Yamaha Launches New 6.1-Channel A/V Receivers

1-Nov-02

Yamaha Electronics Corporation introduced two new A/V receivers incorporating the latest DolbyÆ and DTSÆ surround modes and custom installation features, the RX-V2300 and RX-V1300. The RX-V2300 and RX-V1300 are equipped with Zone 2 audio outputs, Zone 2 audio source selectors, and 12-volt trigger outputs. Additionally, the RX-V2300 includes Zone 2 video outputs, Zone 2 power amp assignability (110 watts x 2), and an RS-232 interface for two-way communication between the amplifier and a touch pad controller. The RX-V2300 and RX-V1300 incorporate Dolby Digital EXô, DTS-ESÆ, and Dolby Pro Logic II. The RX-V2300 and RX-V1300 feature the next generation of Yamaha's proprietary CINEMA DSP technology. Internal surround decoding and ambience processing are enabled by the YSS-938, a 32-bit digital processor IC that yields 26 DSP programs with 46 possible variations in the RX-V2300. The RX-V1300 offers 25 DSP programs with 44 variations. New to both models is the Music Video Program, for playback of music videos. Both receivers feature 192 kHz/24-bit audio DACs, which are used for up to nine channels. Both of these 6.1-channel receivers deliver equal power to each of six amplifier channels. The RX-V2300 is rated at 110 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms (for eight channels), while the RX-V1300 delivers 100 watts RMS at 8 ohms into each of six channels. These receivers also feature Yamaha's Digital ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology), which is said to maximize digital quality while minimizing analog circuitry. The RX-V2300 and RX-V1300 converts S-video to composite, and also composite to S-video with the RX-V2300. The RX-V2300 and RX-V1300 are equipped with HD-compatible component video inputs and outputs, and six-channel analog audio inputs. Both receivers feature Silent Cinema, which creates a 5.1-channel listening experience with a pair of headphones. In addition, Virtual CINEMA DSP allows for the effects of CINEMA DSP surround sound without using rear speakers. The RX-V2300 has an MSRP of $999, while the RX-V1300 has an MSRP of $799.
