Yamaha Electronics Introduces RX-V3300 8.1-Channel Receiver

Yamaha Electronics Corporation has introduced a new receiver. Featuring many of the key features of Yamaha's flagship RX-Z1, the RX-V3300 incorporates the latest DolbyÆ and DTSÆ formats, 33 surround programs, and an RS-232 port for custom installation.The RX-V3300 incorporates Dolby Digital EXô, DTS-ESÆ, DTS 96/24, and Dolby Pro Logic II. A six-channel external decoder input is also included.The RX-V3300 features the next-generation of Yamaha's proprietary CINEMA DSP technology--including the Quad-Field CINEMA DSP programs. Internal surround sound decoding and ambience processing are enabled by Yamaha's YSS-938, a 32-bit digital processor IC that yields 33 DSP programs with 53 possible variations. Further enhancements include 192 kHz/24-bit audio DACs, which are used for up to 8.1 channels.The RX-V3300 delivers equal power to each of six amplifier channels, and is rated at 130 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms. In addition, a 25-watt x 2 amplifier provides power to the two front effects channels used for Yamaha DSP programs. This receiver also features Yamaha's Digital ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology), which is claimed to maximize digital quality while minimizing analog circuitry.Yamaha has outfitted the RX-V3300 with Zone 2 functionality, including Zone 2 audio and video outputs, a Zone 2 selector, a variable Zone 2 volume control, and a 12-volt trigger output for Zone 2 components. Additionally, the RX-V3300 has Zone 2 power amp assignability (25 watts x 2) and an RS-232 interface for two-way communication between the receiver and a touch pad controller.The RX-V3300 converts S-video to composite also converts composite to S-video, and comes equipped with HDTV-compatible component video inputs and outputs.For private listening of movies or music, the RX-V3300 features Silent Cinema, which creates a 5.1-channel listening experience with a pair of headphones. In addition, Virtual CINEMA DSP allows for the effects of Yamaha's CINEMA DSP surround sound programs without using rear speakers.The RX-V3300 has an MSRP of $1,599.
