The MT8 features a second-generation, high-brightness/high-contrast HD2 DLP chip from Texas Instruments, with 1280 x 720 pixels. This new chip utilizes a new 12-degree mirror tilt and new dithering algorithms. It is paired with a new six-segment color wheel. Also featured in the MT8 is a new lens system from Carl Zeiss. This system utilizes a 116-degree image offset. The projector is claimed to offer 1,000 ANSI lumens of brightness and a contrast ratio of 1,400:1. Another technology that Toshiba has used in the MT8 is Faroudja's Directional Correlational De-interlacing Plus (DCDi+). The new ""+"" version adds Adaptive Luminance Enhancement, Chrominance Enhancement, and Scaling with Frame Rate Conversion.In addition to Keystone Adjustment, full user adjustments include gamma control, sharpness control, user definable color temperature control, memory settings by input, and discrete IR codes. The projector also features two sets of ColorStream HD component video inputs, DVI with HDCP, RS232C, an IR input port, and a 12-volt trigger port.
