Toshiba Highlights Two Widescreen Plasma Displays With True HD Resolution At CEDIA 2002

Toshiba if offersing two HDTV-compatible widescreen plasma displays, the 50-inch 50HP82 and the 42-inch 42HP82. Both offer true 720p resolution. ""Toshiba is well-known as a leader in both SuperTUBEô and projection TV technologies, and our two plasma displays clearly show that we are also a leader in new flat-panel technologies as well,"" said Scott Ramirez, Toshiba's Vice President of Marketing. ""These sets are ideal for home theatre enthusiasts who want nothing less than the ultimate in 'no compromise' image quality."" The 50HP82 utilizes a 1365 x 768 pixel array and has a rated brightness of 352 cd/m2 and contrast ratio of 1,200:1. The 42HP82 utilizes a 1024x768 pixel array, with a rated brightness of 300 cd/m2 and contrast ratio of over 1,000:1. Both sets feature newly designed RGB filters embedded within the front glass, said to eliminate any undesirable light emissions from the individual pixels. Both sets also feature Toshiba's Blackstripeô technology, claimed to provide for improved contrast with less reflection from ambient light sources, as well as a 160-degree viewing angle. Both the 50HP82 and the 42HP82 feature DVI input terminals, with HDCP copy protection.
