Marantz Demonstrates Upgraded Home Theatre Receiver Lineup At CEDIA 2002

10-Dec-02

Four New Receivers Feature Higher Power Output, Compatibility With The Latest Surround Sound Formats, And Enhanced Installation Flexibility Marantz America has upgraded its lineup of high-performance home theatre receivers with four new models that offer unprecedented power, features, and installation flexibility for their respective categories--along with the legendary sound quality that is the hallmark of every Marantz receiver. Marantz's new SR7300, SR6300, SR5300, and SR4300 6.1-channel receivers replace the company's previous models SR7200, SR6200, SR 5200, and SR4200. Upgrades in the new receivers include surround sound decoding capability for the latest surround sound formats (such as DolbyÆ Digital EXô and Dolby Pro Logic II), as well as enhancements including 192 kHz/24-bit D/A conversion on all channels (all models except the SR4300), Circle Surround II processing, and many additional advanced features. The new receivers join Marantz's flagship SR9200 ($3,199), now upgraded to THXÆ Ultra2 certification, and the THX Select-certified SR8200 ($1,699), completing a lineup of high-performance audio/video receivers for every home entertainment installation and budget. Marantz's new home theatre receivers incorporate a wealth of advanced technologies to fully exploit the potential of the latest home theatre formats and deliver better performance than ever before at their price points. For example, all new receivers provide Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS-ES, as well as Dolby Digital and DTS decoding. In addition, the SR7300 includes DTS 96/24 decoding, to accommodate DTS 96 kHz/24-bit-encoded discs. The SR7300, SR6300, SR5300, and SR4300 all feature SRSÆ Labs' newest Circle Surround II processing, which provides 6.1-channel surround sound from stereo and other matrix surround audio sources. The receivers also offer several additional surround modes, such as 6.1-Channel Stereo, which routes the left channel of a stereo audio source to the left front and left rear speakers, the right channel to the right front and right rear speakers, and a left-plus-right blend to the center front and center rear speakers, yielding a 360-degree soundfield, without the drawbacks of either DSP processing or artificial ambience simulation. All new receivers (with the exception of the SR4300) employ 192 kHz/24-bit D/A conversion and premium DSP circuitry, for unsurpassed fidelity, resolution, channel separation, and dynamic range. To assure the best possible sound quality during movie viewing, the receivers all include Marantz's HT-EQ Home Theater Equalizer circuit, which compensates for the overly bright sound quality of some DVD movie soundtracks that were not properly re-equalized for the home listening environment, yielding a more natural sonic presentation. The SR7300, SR6300, SR5300 and SR4300 all feature high-current amplifier sections that deliver greater power output capability under demanding operational conditions with all channels driven. All models feature heavy duty, banana plug-compatible speaker terminals for all amplifier channels, facilitating the use of high-quality speaker cables. All receivers include a wide array of digital and analog inputs, outputs and switching facilities, and all models offer a wealth of performance and convenience features, such as a precision FM/AM tuner with 30-station preset tuning, a multi-language on-screen menu display, versatile remote controls, and much more. The Marantz SR7300 builds on the success of the critically acclaimed SR7200 with even better performance and upgraded features. Like all Marantz receivers, it offers an extensive complement of video and audio inputs, outputs, and switching facilities, enabling it to serve as the centerpiece of a true high-end home entertainment system. The SR7300 also features wide-bandwidth component video switching to accommodate video sources such as HDTV, DTV, and progressive scan DVD players with no degradation in image quality. In addition, the SR7300 includes a convenient front panel digital optical input, and a 7.1-channel direct input. The receiver delivers 105 watts (into 8 ohms) into all six of its main channels, utilizing current feedback power amplifier topology that yields greater power output capability under demanding operational conditions with all channels driven. The SR7300's multi-room capability provides independent control of a second-room audio and video system, and the receiver includes a host of convenience features such as DC trigger and TV Auto On/Off inputs, a headphone output, and much more. The SR7300 is supplied with a newly designed, rogrammable learning remote control. The SR7300 is also designed to accommodate future performance upgrades such as new surround sound decoding capabilities, thanks to its ability to be upgraded via software downloaded from a PC into the receiver's RS-232 port. Built to extremely high standards with a metal alloy faceplate, premium internal components and many additional refinements, the Marantz SR7300 is elegantly styled to complement the most refined decors and living environments. The Marantz SR7300 carries a suggested retail price of $999 and will be available in October 2002. The Marantz SR6300 and SR5300 6.1-channel digital surround receivers offer unbeatable performance, features, and value at their respective price points. Both models utilize 192 kHz/24-bit conversion on all main channels. The SR6300 and SR5300 feature video switching circuitry that is improved from previous models, to yield the best possible image quality from S-video and composite video sources. The SR6300 delivers 100 watts (into 8 ohms) into each of its six main channels, while the SR5300 provides 90 watts x 6 (into 8 ohms). The SR6300 and SR5300 offer an extensive array of audio and video connections to accommodate multiple A/V program sources. Other versatile features common to both models include 6.1-channel inputs and preamp outputs, an AM/FM tuner with 30-station preset tuning, front panel A/V inputs, and more. Built to the same high standards as the SR7300, the SR6300 and SR5300 receivers include refinements such as metal alloy faceplates, internal components selected for maximum sonic purity, and heavy duty speaker terminals for all channels. The Marantz SR6300 carries a suggested retail price of $749, while the Marantz SR5300 carries a suggested retail price of $599. Both models will be available in October 2002. The Marantz SR4300 makes it easy to step up to the enhanced realism of 6.1-channel surround sound, at a suggested retail price of just $429. The SR4300 is ideal for a wide variety of high-performance home theatre systems, featuring all the surround sound decoding formats included in the SR6300 and SR5300, as well as the HT-EQ Home Theater Equalizer circuit. The SR4300 delivers an upgraded 80 watts (into 8 ohms) of power into each of its five main channels, and provides a generous complement of A/V inputs and outputs, along with performance and convenience features such as an easy-to-use on-screen menu, AM/FM tuner with 30-station preset memory, and full remote control operation.
