Canton is introducing five new home theatre systems in their popular ""Movie"" line that provide remarkably powerful and detailed sound, but in packages that are small and attractive enough to fit in any home or apartment. From the smallest system's 3-1/2-inch cube satellites, to the line's attractive black and silver satin finishes, these systems are designed to blend into the room, rather than take it over. However, unlike many satellite/subwoofer speaker systems, which sacrifice performance for size, the Canton Movie line uses exclusive transducer excursion control technology to provide the power, dynamics, and realism that make home theatre an experience rather than just a show. Each package in the Canton Movie series features four identical two-way satellite mini-speakers which can be placed on bookshelves, mounted on the wall, or freely moved about the room on specially designed optional stands. Each magnetically shielded center channel is acoustically and aesthetically matched to the satellites, providing a seamless soundfield and superior imaging. Each package also features a powered subwoofer, which provides the powerful bass that drives the action and excitement of movie soundtracks. All of these pieces benefit from Canton's exclusive excursion control circuits, which prevent the erratic excursions that even small woofer drivers can experience when they are fed signals below their natural low-frequency limits. In the satellite speakers, special passive high-pass filter circuits are employed to block such signals, significantly lowering harmonic distortion and improving driver precision. The powered subwoofers use Canton's acclaimed SC (Subwoofer Control) Technology, which employs active excursion control circuitry that is custom-designed for each model to reduce harmonic distortion and improve frequency range, while maintaining precise stability and control. Movie 6-CX The Movie 6-CX features four identical mini-satellites with a face that measure just 3-1/2 inches square, and a depth of 4 inches. Unlike comparably sized mini-cubes, these are true two-way speakers with a 3-inch polypropylene woofer, and a coaxially mounted 0.6-inch aluminum tweeter, and feature flawless clarity and impressive sonic range. The center channel uses the same driver complement, but with a pair of woofers horizontally flanking the tweeter for improved dialogue reproduction. The Movie 6-CX's 100-watt powered subwoofer uses a 6.5-inch cellulose/graphite driver in a band-pass enclosure, for accurate bass reproduction all the way to 38 Hz. Like all the Movie subwoofers, it features variable crossover and output controls, as well as switchable phase adjustment. The Movie 6-CX will be available in January at a retail price of $699.Movie 10-MX-IIThe Movie 10-MX-II satellites are nearly identical to those in the Movie 6-CX, but with the drivers arranged vertically instead of coaxially, giving them a height of 4-1/2 inches. The center channel speaker is the same as that used for the Movie 6-CX. The Movie 10-MX-II Subwoofer includes a built-in 100-watt amplifier and an 8-inch cellulose/graphite driver in a band-pass enclosure. The Movie 10-MX-II will be available in January at a retail price of $899.Movie 20-X-IIThe Movie 20-X-II features five identical magnetically shielded two-way satellites, which feature a 1-inch aluminum/manganese tweeter for high-frequency reproduction all the way out to 30 kHz. The speakers use a 4-inch cellulose/graphite woofer for upper-bass and midrange duties, and are 5 inches wide, 8 inches tall, and 5 inches deep. The Movie 20-X-II package also includes a 120-watt powered 8-inch subwoofer in a band-pass enclosure. The Movie 20-X-II will be available in January at a retail price of $1,199.Movie 22-X-IIThe Movie 22-X-II features four of the same satellites as those in the Movie-20-X-II, but adds a horizontal center channel with two 4-inch woofers on either side of the 1-inch tweeter. The 120-watt powered subwoofer features a 9-inch cellulose/graphite driver, and is a ported bass reflex design. The Movie 22-X-II will be available in January at a retail price of $1,399.Movie 25-XL-IIThe Movie 25-XL-II is the largest of the Canton Movie packages, with five identical bass reflex two-way speakers, which are magnetically shielded to prevent interference with video displays. Each features a 5-inch cellulose/graphite woofer, and a 1-inch aluminum/manganese tweeter. The Movie 25-XL-II subwoofer is a bass reflex system with a 150-watt internal amplifier, and a 10-inch cellulose/graphite woofer. The Movie 25-XL-II will be available in January at a retail price of $1,599.For more information about this and other Canton products, visit www.cantonusa.com.
