THIEL Audio will be showing its latest loudspeaker, the CS2.4, along with the recently shipped SW1 subwoofer featuring SmartSubô technology at the 2003 CES in Las Vegas. THIEL will also have a sneak preview of the upcoming ViewPoint loudspeaker, designed for use with flat-panel video displays. THIEL is exhibiting at the Alexis Park Resort in the Athena Ballroom.New CS2.4 Floor-Standing LoudspeakerThe CS2.4 is a three-way, floor-standing dynamic speaker system designed for very realistic sound reproduction in home music and video sound systems. The new CS2.4's suggested retail price is $3,900 per pair.- Innovative coincident tweeter/midrange array eliminates the need for a high-frequency electrical crossover network.- Superior clarity and detail is provided by very low distortion, metal diaphragm, state-of-the-art drivers and very high-quality electrical components.- Phase-correct crossover design and time-correct driver alignment results in THIEL's trademark phase and time coherence for exceptional realism.- Uniform, resistive load works well with lower power amplifiers.- A 6.5-inch woofer/ 7.5 x 11-inch passive radiator combination delivers exceptionally clean and tonal bass down to 33 Hz.- The 42-inch-tall cabinet is available in a variety of exquisite wood, painted, and custom finishes to enhance any home environment. A special Painted Black finish is available at $3,500 per pair. The THIEL SW1 Subwoofer System: Brains, Brawn, And BeautyThe CS2.4 will be featured in a live demonstration with THIEL's innovative SW1 subwoofer. The SW1's patent-pending SmartSub technology enables the SW1 system to overcome the problems exhibited by conventional subwoofers--poor integration with the system's main speakers and altered response due to nearby walls--to deliver near-ideal performance with virtually any type of main loudspeaker and with virtually any room placement. The SW1 is the first intelligent subwoofer--simple, seamless, and smart. The woofer unit is a standalone subwoofer for reproducing the "".1"" channel in a home theatre system. It uses two very high-performance, high-output 10-inch drivers powered by a high-efficiency, 1000-watt switching mode amplifier. The amplifier's circuitry includes the aspects of SmartSub technology that correct response problems caused by nearby walls and eliminates compression distortion normally caused by high power to the drivers. The Controller: Perfect Sonic Integration For Seamless SoundThe optional companion SC1 Controller can be used in augment mode to extend the bass range of the main speakers, or in crossover mode to transfer the bass energy from the main speakers into the subwoofer for higher output levels. The Controller's SmartSub technology allows for near-perfect integration with any speaker, regardless of brand, by automatically calculating the subwoofer response which provides seamless integration. The Controller unit has two-channel circuitry so that stereo bass can be preserved when used with two or more subwoofer units. It is remote-controllable, has balanced and unbalanced low-level inputs and outputs, and can be used with up to 16 subwoofer units in very large systems. The SW1 is 11 x 23.5 x 20 (WHD inches), weighs 108 pounds, and has a ten-year warranty. The suggested retail price of the SW1 is $4,800. The companion SC1 Controller is $2,800.THIEL ViewPoint, Designed For Use With Flat-Panel Video DisplaysTHIEL will also be showing a prototype of a new loudspeaker designed specifically for use with flat-panel video displays, called the ViewPoint. The high-performance ViewPoint uses much of the same innovative technology employed in the award-winning PowerPointÆ surface-mount loudspeaker and in-wall PowerPlane, including coaxial driver mounting and very low distortion metal diaphragm drivers powered by neodymium magnets. The ViewPoint is planned for release later in 2003.For more information, visit www.thielaudio.com.
