The Theater Digital Virtual Interactive Surround Processor (ViSP) is the latest offering from the design team that created the Acurus Act 3. Introduced in 1997, the Act 3 was the industry's first auto-switching surround decoder. Consistent with the quality, innovation, and reliability the Act 3 was famous for, the ViSP truly is a worthy successor. Once again breaking new ground, the Theater Digital design team sets a new standard for the home theatre industry with the introduction of the ViSP.Theater Digital's Virtual Control interface creates seamless automation for every aspect of even the most sophisticated home theatre installation. With a combined total of 18 analog and digital inputs, the software-configurable Virtual Interface provides easy access to any audio, video, or Internet sources. Included in the Virtual Environment is a full complement of software tools for controlling all the IR functions for most audio/video components, as well as mechanical devices such as electric screens, drapes, projector lifts, lighting control, HVAC control, and other home automation products.Coupled to this unique user interface is the Interactive Programming layer of the ViSP operating system. Containing over 128 memory locations, the Interactive control of the ViSP can memorize every aspect of the system's setup, configuration, and user preferences to adjust the listening environment for every source and soundfield format. These functions include a selectable preset balance control, a dual-stereo configurable tone control, a five-band parametric equalizer, as well as the required speaker management and spatial delay controls. Considering the intricacy this level of automation provides, Theater Digital keeps it simple with its custom-configured user interface, so that a myriad of operations can be carried out via a single-button command.Using the latest DSP engine from Motorola, the ViSP is capable of decoding all of today's latest surround formats, which include DolbyÆ Pro Logic II, DTS-ESÆ, and DTS 96/24. Also included are five different surround matrix modes: Theater, Hall, 5-Channel Stereo, Stadium, and Club. Previously unavailable in any product and to keep up with the latest in decoding software, the DSP engine is equipped with flash memory, which can be upgraded by simply placing a reprogramming disc in your DVD player!Designed and engineered to compete with the best surround preamplifiers on the market, the ViSP boasts a true high-resolution analog audio path and a 96 kHz analog-to-digital converter for stereo sources. The digital input section utilizes a proprietary input conditioning and jitter reduction circuit to provide accurate signal clocking to the DSP decoder. The new Motorola DSP50367/150 utilizes a new ""dual-mode"" processing algorithm to give output signals an equivalent of 48-bit resolution. This, coupled to 192 kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converters, makes the ViSP a true high-fidelity audio preamplifier. Theater Digital has created the next level of home entertainment equipment and a totally innovative way of designing and operating a home theatre system. Effortless control, a flexible user interface, and superior audio quality allow the ViSP to tower above other conventional surround processors, and considering the price, make it an absolute must-have for any serious home theatre. Theater Digital will also offer a complete line of system separates including a Multichannel/Six-Band Extended Tone Control System, an Eight-Channel 384 kHz/32-Bit Digital-To-Analog Converter, and an Eight Channel Balanced Output Line Preamplifier, all connected via Theater Digital's proprietary High Speed Digital Buss. The finishing touch in a ViSP-based theatre? Theater Digital offers the VRTA10 with one-twelfth-octave display software to accurately calibrate the five-band parametric EQ located inside the ViSP. The VRTA will enable the installer to perfectly tune the listening environment, bringing the level of the entire system to new heights, heretofore unheard of in the home theatre experience. The MSRP of the ViSP is under $3,000. For more information, visit www.theater-digital.com.
