Introducing the industry's broadest array of liquid crystal display (LCD) HDTV monitors and TVs, Zenith Electronics Corporation showcased eight direct-view models, ranging in screen sizes from 13 to 52 inches, at the 2003 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The LCD line is highlighted by new 23- and 17-inch screen sizes, Zenith's first LCD system with an integrated DVD player, and new picture-enhancing ""Super In Plan Switching"" (Super IPS) technology. At CES, Zenith also previewed two new LCD monitors featuring giant 52- and 42-inch widescreen displays.Zenith's new ultra-thin LCD systems include the 30-inch L30W36 LCD HDTV monitor; the company's first 23-inch display, the L23W36 LCD HDTV monitor; and its first 17-inch units, the L17WDVD and L17W36 LCD HDTV monitors. The L17WDVD is Zenith's first LCD system to include a built-in DVD player. The DVD drive uses an unobtrusive vacuum-loaded system that integrates fully with the slim profile of the monitor. All four models feature superb HD-ready XGA resolution, and are formatted for widescreen (16:9) presentation.Zenith's new LCD systems also include two enhanced-definition (EDTV) models, the 20-inch L20V36 and the 13-inch L13V36, and a 15-inch HDTV monitor (XGA with a 4:3 aspect ratio), the L15V36 LCD HDTV monitor. Combined with Zenith's current LCD systems, they offer consumers an unparalleled range of LCD viewing options.Zenith also introduced Super IPS technology in its 30-, 23-, 17-, and 15-inch LCD displays, delivering unprecedented horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 176 degrees, and ensuring better, clearer pictures from off-center seating positions than previously possible. LCD displays employing Super IPS provide the widest viewing angle, the best overall color performance, and one of the fastest response times in the industry.Zenith's new models featuring 23-, 17-, 15-, and 13-inch screens also feature an attractive new cabinet design highlighted by practical, user-friendly features. These include built-in cable management capability, a tabletop stand with tilt and swivel capabilities, a standardized VESA mounting system to simplify on-wall installation, and a convenient, unobtrusive carrying handle on the rear panel.
