Dynaudio Introduces Next-Generation Contour Series Loudspeakers

27-Feb-03

Dynaudio, the specialty audio loudspeaker manufacturer from Denmark, unveiled a new range of its Contour Series loudspeakers. Dynaudio is presently celebrating its Silver anniversary, having established a reputation for quality, performance, and value for both finished loudspeaker systems as well as individual driver units. The original Contour line first debuted over 15 years ago. Dynaudio's dedication to pushing the state-of-the-art in loudspeaker design and its commitment to innovation has manifested itself in the achievements of the company's reference models. The progression in loudspeaker technology first realized with these developments are now continued with the announcement of an entirely new Contour range, creating a series of audiophile-grade stereo and home theatre loudspeaker systems. While the Contour series has benefited from periodical technical advances over the years, this marks the first time that the line has received an aesthetic update since the introduction of the Contour 1 in 1986. The completely updated lines of the new Contour models continue Dynaudio's Scandinavian style of form following function. A new high-tech cabinet and baffle design enhances the looks while complementing the drivers. The new Contour line consists of the Contour S 5.4 and Contour S 3.4 floor-standing models, the Contour S 1.4 mini-monitors, the Contour S R surround/rear speaker, and the Contour S C center channel loudspeakers. A key performance element of the new series is the utilization of the latest incarnation of Dynaudio's ESOTEC and ESOTAR tweeters, which now feature new dome materials and a mechanical construction to exceed the performance of their venerable predecessors, and the new, advanced woofers which incorporate the latest progressions in transducer technology developed exclusively by Dynaudio. Dynaudio's loudspeaker research and development has brought forth further innovations in materials, crossover topology, and driver alignment, with the company incorporating these enhancements into the new Contour models. The precise driver arrays and advanced crossover designs enable both a controlled dispersion into the room, and optimum time arrival of all frequencies. The fusion of materials in the construction of the new Contour models serve to provide for optimal mechanical performance as well as an attractive design element for the new aesthetics. Dynaudio, founded in Skanderborg, Denmark in 1977, is a leading manufacturer of high-performance specialty audio and home theatre loudspeaker systems, and is one of less than a handful of companies developing and producing all of its drivers completely in-house, having earned the distinction of QS9000 certification for its quality in production. Dynaudio's products are distributed worldwide; its consumer product offerings being marketed under the Authentic Fidelity home audio and Mobile Fidelity car audio lines, while also being highly regarded in the professional audio arena through its DynaudioAcoustics studio monitor products, in addition to its reputation as an OEM supplier to the specialty audio and automobile markets.
