NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display Announces 40-Inch LCD

NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display has introduced the NEC LCD4000, a 40-inch LCD display, which joins the 30-inch LCD3000, introduced last year. The LCD4000 features a PVA-TFT panel with claimed viewing angles of 170 degrees horizontally and vertically. The response time of the display is 23 ms. The 40-inch display has an aspect ratio of 15:9 and a native resolution of 1280 x 768 (WXGA), with 16.7 million color capability. The NEC LCD4000 features digital and analog interfaces. The horizontal frequency range is 31.5-75 kHz in analog mode and 31.5-49 kHz in digital mode, and the vertical scan resolution ranges from 58-62 Hz. The display has a light intensity of up to 450 cd/m2, at a contrast ratio of 600:1. NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display features their CableComp with the NEC LCD3000 and NEC LCD4000. CableComp compensates for loss of signal quality with long cable lengths of up to 100 meters. In addition, both displays feature interfaces for composite video, component video, and S-video, as well as RCA and 3.5 mm PC audio inputs. An audio output for is also included for optional loudspeaker connection. The NEC LCD4000 has a rated power consumption of 235 W and weight of 27.5 kg. NEC-Mitsubishi has designed the housing of the LCD display so that it complies with the current standards for VESA mounting for large-format presentation displays, and also can be easily removed for integration into existing environments. The NEC LCD4000 will be available from March 2003. Included are an AC power cable, user manual, 15-pin mini-D-sub signal cable, and a remote control, AA batteries, and feet.
