DirecTV To Offer Select MEGA MARCH MADNESS Games In High-Definition

DirecTV, Inc. announced that it will offer select NCAAÆ Division I Men's Basketball Championship games in high-definition, through the MEGA MARCH MADNESSÆ subscription on the DirecTVÆ service. Beginning March 21 on DirecTV channel 198, DirecTV will broadcast up to eight CBS-produced and regionally shown tournament broadcasts in high-definition format (1080i) from Birmingham, Alabama, (March 21 and 23) and San Antonio, Texas (March 28). DirecTV customers eligible to receive these games in high-definition include: - Residential and commercial DirecTV customers with a 2003 MEGA MARCH MADNESS subscription and high-definition receiving equipment. These customers will receive the high-definition feed at no additional charge. - Residential DirecTV customers with high-definition receiving equipment but without a 2003 MEGA MARCH MADNESS subscription. These customers can purchase the HD-produced broadcasts via pay-per-game ordering for $24.95 a game. ""DirecTV customers across the country will now have one of the best seats in the house as they watch the most exciting college basketball tournament of the season in high-definition,"" said Michael Thornton, Senior Vice President, Programming Acquisitions, DirecTV, Inc. ""These select broadcasts of MEGA MARCH MADNESS games in high-definition continue to support our commitment to offering more HD programming and providing our customers with the ultimate viewing experience."" The telecasts will be available for customers who have an HDTV set with a built-in DirecTV receiver or a DirecTV high-definition receiver, and a single 18 x 20-inch multi-satellite dish with three LNBs. Beginning March 20, DirecTV customers who purchase MEGA MARCH MADNESS will receive up to 37 out-of-market CBS-produced broadcasts from the first three rounds, including the Sweet 16Æ, of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship for $49.
