18-Mar-03

Sharp Electronics Corporation unveiled its 2003 line of 1-Bit digital audio systems, including the SD-AT1000 digital home theatre system. The SD-AT1000 is rated at 100 watts per channel. The amplifier samples audio signals at a rate of 2.8 MHz, or 64 times faster than industry-standard CD audio. The faster sampling rate is said to ensure excellent transient response, providing accurate reproduction of fast, percussive sounds and complex multi-instrumental timbre. ""Sharp is reinforcing its commitment to deliver sophisticated digital amplification technology in compact, compatible cabinet designs,"" said Mark Knox, Director, Digital Media Services, Sharp Electronics Corporation. ""All of the essential ingredients the consumer wants--superior sound quality, compact size, sleek styling--are captured by this product line, and are now more accessible to consumers, audiophiles, and home theatre enthusiasts alike."" Sharp's 1-Bit technology is based on an innovative digital amplification system offering high-fidelity playback, combined with highly efficient energy use in a very compact size. The 1-Bit process converts analog signals into digital signals, creating a pure digital signal path from the source to the listener. The tremendous dynamic range and ultra-wide frequency response are claimed for Sharp's 1-Bit digital amplifier technology. Delta Sigma Dynamic Feedback corrects the 1-Bit control signals in real-time, which is said to enable very stable amplification of music signals. SD-AT1000 Digital Home Theatre System Sharp's new 1-Bit digital home theatre system includes an A/V receiver which reproduces 5.1 channels of surround sound and incorporates DolbyÆ Digital, DTSÆ Digital Surroundô, and Dolby Pro LogicÆ II. The A/V receiver has an AM/FM tuner and is housed in a slim, stylish component, while sound is amplified through six channels--one subwoofer, one center, two front, and two surround. In addition, color-coded terminals serve to help guide the consumer during setup. Cosmetically, the product's sleek silver finish is designed to complement Sharp's advanced display products such as AQUOSô Liquid Crystal Televisions and high-definition Plasma Televisions. The SD-AT1000 will be available in May at a suggested retail price of $499.95. For more information about Sharp Electronics Corporation, visit www.sharpusa.com.
