Runco Unveils Its Latest Flagship 16:9 DLP Projector With World-Class Optics

30-Apr-03

Runco has introduced its new flagship single-chip DLPô-based projector, the Reflectionô VX-5000ci. The Reflection VX-5000ci builds upon the heritage of the VX-5000c, by incorporating Runco's exclusive GEN 3ô engineering technology. Runco has engineered its GEN 3 products to make more efficient use of optical light engine design. Runco has implemented a host of advancements into this new engine to take full advantage of Texas Instruments' latest HD2 chipset, including the widescreen high-definition DMDô (Digital Micromirror Deviceô). Among the advances Runco has developed is a sophisticated color balancing system. Additionally, the VX-5000ci incorporates RVRô or Reflectance Volume Regulation, which provides for infinitely variable adjustment of the light path through the optics. This results in a variable contrast ratio ranging from 2500:1 to 3000:1--based on how the RVR system is calibrated and light output of 1500 ANSI lumens. The foot- Lambert light output of the VX-5000ci is 17.2-29.7 ft-L, according to Runco's exclusive Cinema Standards Measurement Systemô specifications. These engineering achievements are combined with lens choices featuring world-class optics. The VX-5000ci boasts a native resolution of 1280 x 720 and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The VX-5000ci custom optics also include both horizontal and vertical lens shift via a patent-pending shifting mechanism developed and engineered by Runco. These Runco precision HD optics are ""premium grade"" lenses, which are normally found only in much more expensive 3-chip DLP systems. The VX-5000ci also offers DVI input with HDCP. The VX-5000ci is furnished with Runco's PFP Controller, for video processing, scaling, and aspect ratio control. The retail price is $26,995.
