7-May-03

Neil Terk, 55, Chairman of TERK Technologies, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital after a battle with lung cancer. Neil Terk founded TERK Technologies and served as its President since its inception in 1985. Neil applied his background in industrial design and engineering to spend the last 18 years marrying both form and function to create TERK's award-winning product line. Since the introduction of TERK's first product in 1987, the Pi AM/FM antenna, the company remains true to the principle that guides the development of each of TERK's products--to create stylish, high-performance accessories for the consumer electronics industry that seamlessly blend form with function and high value. ""We are deeply saddened at the passing of Neil Terk. He was a true entrepreneur who had the confidence to invest his personal resources to start this company and build it into a successful operation focused on the research, design, and engineering of innovative products,"" stated TERK's CEO Steve Roth, who assumed the role in July of 2001. ""The loss of Neil will be felt by everyone who knew him and whose lives he touched."" Many have stated over the years that Neil Terk ""created a category where once there was none."" TERK's emphasis on developing problem solving accessories that complement the consumer lifestyle raised awareness by manufacturers and has motivated the industry to improve their standards for accessory products on everything from design and engineering to packaging and merchandising. Neil Terk brought value to a category that now contributes significant sales to CE retailers, mass merchandisers, and specialty dealers. Neil was on the executive board of the Consumer Electronics Association as Chairman for the Accessories group and is a former chair of the Antenna Subcommittee. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. The Terk family has asked that instead of flowers, donations be made to Cancer Care--Woodbury Chapter, in memory of Neil Terk, 20 Crossways Park North, Suite 110, Woodbury, New York 11797, phone 516 364 8130.
