V Inc. First To Ship DVI DVD Player With MPEG-4 Playback

V Inc., is now shipping their Bravo D1 DVD player. The Bravo D1 provides DVD and MPEG-4 AVI playback via DVI output in high-resolution 480p, 1080i, and 720p formats. The Bravo D1's has a suggested retail price of $199. V Inc.'s Bravo D1 is the first home DVD player to ship with DVI output and MPEG-4 playback. The Bravo D1 features also include DVD-R/+R, CD, CD-R/RW, MPEG-4 (Level 5, Simple and Advanced Profile), DivX (4.x and 5.x), MPEG-2, and MPEG-1 compatibility. Audio decoding includes DolbyÆ Digital and MPEG-1 Layers 1, 2, and 3 (MP3). Also supported is Kodak's Picture CD (JPEG) format for viewing digital photo content, which provides a substantially enhanced image when utilizing the high-definition output. The player includes S/PDIF optical and coaxial digital outputs, composite video, S-video, and component video output of interlaced or progressive video signals. Any form of decoded content can be output in either progressive or interlaced format, in analog or direct digital output via DVI. The player offers sophisticated scaling and scan conversion with appropriate 3:2 pull-down of standard video to various HD (480p, 1080i, and 720p) resolutions. The player's component video output is limited to 480p on playback of DVD content when MacrovisionÆ copy protection is present. The player's DVD drive and processor feature 0.5-second layer changes and a zoom function for non-anamorphic content rendering.
