Vidikron Announces Four New High-Definition DLP Projectors

Vidikron has introduced two new projectors incorporating Texas Instruments' Digital Light Processingô (DLPô) technology, signaling the rebirth of the Vidikron brand. These projectors include the Visionô Series Model 40/Model 40ET and the Model 20/Model 20ET. ""These new models are the first of what will be a comprehensive line of home theatre display and video enhancement products from Vidikron,"" said Mark Stein, Director of Corporate Communications for Vidikron. Targeted at mainstream home theatre enthusiasts and applications, the Vision Series Model 40/40ET and Model 20/20ET projectors deliver high picture quality and professional features for home theatre applications while maintaining affordability. The Vision Model 40 and Model 40ET feature native 16:9 HD2 720p DLP chip technology. The entry-level Model 20 and Model 20ET offer 16:9 480p DLP technology and incorporate numerous engineering innovations and a host of professional features not typically found in projectors in their price range. The Model 40/40ET have a light output of 950 ANSI lumens and contrast ratio of 1,600:1, while the Model 20/20ET delivers 850 ANSI lumens of light output and 1,500:1 contrast ratio. These projectors are recommended for use with screens up to 96 inches wide. All of the projectors feature internal video processing with 3:2 film detection circuitry and full HDTV compatibility (with outboard tuner/decoder or satellite receiver), as well as support for multiple aspect ratio control, including Vidikron's IntelliWide mode, offering the ability to view standard video formats in widescreen without loss of image quality. Also included are advanced digital keystone correction, discrete IR or RS-232 control, and discrete source and aspect ratio selection for automation control systems. The Vision Model 40 offers a variable throw distance of 1.38:1 to 1.63:1, while the Model 40ET provides a longer variable throw distance of 1.80:1 to 2.40:1. The Vision Model 20 offers a variable throw distance of 1.71:1 to 2.06:1, while the Model 20ET provides a longer variable throw distance of 2.2:1 to 3.1:1. All of these models ship with professional-grade lenses and feature a ""cat's eye"" optical system that enhances contrast and optimizes black level performance. In addition, a nine-point white balance system is included for gray scale tracking. The Model 40/40ET and the Model 20/20ET sport an aesthetically pleasing, small-footprint exterior case design that is said to blend into any room surrounding. The Vidikron Vision Model 40 has an MSRP $8,999, while the Vision Model 40ET MSRP is priced at $9,995. The Vidikron Vision Model 20 has an MSRP $5,495, while the Vision Model 20ET MSRP is priced at $6,495. All models will be available July 2003.
