Pioneer Introduces New Home Theatre Systems

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. added two new home theatre systems to its current product line, including the HTZ-830DV and the Pioneer Elite EX-500. ""Whether you are into movies, music, live sporting events, or videogames, the multichannel surround sound effects can dramatically improve the overall experience."" The EX-500 combines the functionality of a slim six-channel receiver with a DVD-Audio/SACD progressive scan DVD player. The receiver boasts 100 watts of amplification for each of the six channels, in a package that weighs in at fifteen pounds and stands under three inches in height. It processes DolbyÆ Digital EX, DTS-ESÆ, Dolby Pro Logic II, and offers Pioneer's automatic Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration system (MCACC). The EX-500 includes a DVD player that offers playback of DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD (SACD) titles, as well as MP3 files. A photo viewer is built in, enabling users to create an ongoing slide show of digital images. Pioneer's PureCinemaô progressive scan circuitry is also featured. The Pioneer HTZ-830DV offers a progressive scan DVD player with DVD-Audio and SACD playback, an integrated multichannel receiver with 360 watts total output power, and five satellite speakers and a subwoofer. The HTZ-830DV offers DolbyÆ Digital, DTSÆ, and Dolby Pro Logic II, and a preprogrammed system remote. Pioneer also offers home theatre systems with wireless rear speakers, five-disc carousels, and systems that are receiver-based to be added to a current DVD player. The EX-500 will be available in July for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $850, and the HTZ-830DV will be available in September at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,000.
