Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. introduced the VSX-55TXi and VSX-53TX Pioneer Elite digital audio/video receivers offering advanced digital processing, room tuning, and high-resolution multichannel audio reproduction. The VSX-55TXi is the second receiver from Pioneer that allows advanced high-resolution multichannel digital interface (i.LINKÆ or IEEE-1394) for DVD-Audio and SACD connectivity.""Audio and video enthusiasts know that the combination of a great television with a fabulous DVD player doesn't mean anything without the advanced processing power of a strong receiver. Our Pioneer Elite receivers deliver on the promise of advanced technology. By incorporating an i.LINK connection for single-cable audio connectivity, we're showing that you can have it all--convenience and superior technology,"" said Russ Johnston, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Home Entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.The VSX-55TXi and VSX-53TX receivers provide a refined Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System (MCACC). The calibration system works by measuring the acoustic characteristics of the listening area and neutralizing the ambient characteristics that can ""color"" the original source material. First, the MCACC uses the microphone provided to check and test ambient noise levels, the microphone, and speaker level. Once the initial setup calibration is complete, the system automatically confirms size of the speakers that are hooked up to the receiver and distances to the listener, and then performs a surround analysis. Finally, the MCACC checks the channel delay and channel level, before performing the acoustic calibration. During the acoustic calibration process, the speakers will emit a series of pink noise and timing pulses that are received by the microphone and sent to a nine-band digital equalizer for final calibration of up to seven channels. Both receivers provide an advanced MCACC, and offer all-channel 96 kHz/24-bit analog-to-digital conversion, allowing for manual settings if preferred.Pioneer Elite receivers offer equal amplifier power to all channels. All amplifiers are of discrete MOSFET configuration. Both receivers offer THXÆ Select, DolbyÆ Digital EX, DTS-ESÆ, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS Neo:6Æ surround processing. Both the VSX-55TXi and VSX-53TX have extra-large extruded aluminum heat sinks, a frame-reinforced isolated chamber, single- and double-layered transformer stabilizers, gold insulators, and an aluminum front panel. The VSX-55TXi and VSX-53TX will be available in July at suggested retail prices of $1,700 and $1,500, respectively. For more information about Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., visit www.pioneerelectronics.com.
