KEF Launches Updated And Improved KHT2005 Home Theatre Speaker System

30-Jun-03

KEF Audio announced details of an updated and improved version of the KHT2005 5.1 home theatre speaker system. The new KEF KHT2005.2--version two of the KHT2005, which it replaces--builds on the success of its predecessor, with the same sleek looks and convenient proportions. The new KHT 2005.2 incorporates a number of significant technical and sonic improvements. The five satellite speakers (HTS2001, available in either matte black or a silver finish) each feature a newly developed 3/4-inch metal dome tweeter incorporated into the 4-inch Uni-QÆ drive unit array, with extended frequency response to 27 kHz. There is also a new cable management system built into the foot of the speakers for easier setup. With four satellites in front and rear surround modes, the fifth satellite acts as a center channel speaker, positioned horizontally either above or below the TV monitor. Satellites are available individually to expand the system to 6.1, 7.1 or whatever configuration is required. The subwoofer (PSW2150) has an increased output of over 10 dB at 30 Hz from a front-firing, 10-inch long-throw bass drive unit (the earlier version of the KHT2005 featured an 8-inch unit), and includes a 250-watt amplifier in a slot-vented box design. There is a Cinema/Music switch setting for added low-frequency output when watching films, and a Variable Slope switch (12 dB or 24 dB) to aid integration with the satellites. The new KEF KHT2005.2 six-piece 5.1 speaker system has a recommended retail price of $1,499. For more information, about KEF, visit www.kef.com.
