Amoisonic Introduces Advanced Networked DVD Player With MPEG-4

11-Jul-03

Amoisonic, a Chinese company that has provided OEM products to major consumer electronics companies worldwide for more than 10 years, is launching a next-generation DVD system, the Netplay DVD player, into the U.S. under its own brand. Amoisonic's new system serves as a bridge between a consumer's PC and his/her home entertainment system, allowing users to stream MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (video); MP3 and WMA (audio); and JPEG (picture) files stored in their personal computers to a television or stereo system. The product retails at only $299. ""Amoisonic's Netplay DVD player makes it possible for consumers to unshackle all the content imprisoned in their PCs and bring video, music, and pictures to any TV or stereo system,"" said Sun Ningjun, President, Amoisonic Electronics. ""We expect the Netplay DVD player to evolve into an e-home center as consumers realize the value of a system that links their PC to all the entertainment devices in the house."" Amoisonic's Netplay DVD player connects to the computer through either a PCMCIA Ethernet adapter (wired) or a PCMCIA 802.11b (wireless) network card. The system can stream video at bit rates up to 11 Mbps. The Netplay DVD player's front panel has an iridescent, neutral dark blue glaze that sometimes appears to be deep green in color. The controls are designed to operate with the soft touch of a fingertip. Amoisonic's system includes progressive scan output and a built in DolbyÆ Digital decoder. The DVD player allows users to run video from DVDs and Video CDs, photos from Kodak Picture CDs, audio on standard music CDs and HDCDs, and MP3 files on CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Amoisonic's Netplay DVD player also doubles as a full-function Karaoke machine. The Netplay DVD player comes equipped with composite, component, and S-video outputs, and coaxial and optical digital audio output. The new Netplay DVD player will be available in retail outlets throughout the U.S. by August. For more information about Amoisonic Electronics, visit www.amoisonic.com.
