RCA Universal Learning Remotes Help Viewers Control Multiple Components

Three new RCA-branded universal learning remotes from Thomson (Euronext Paris: 18453, NYSE: TMS) deliver advanced features and unique designs at affordable price points. Large LCD Touchscreen RemoteThe RCU1010 has a large LCD touchcreen and can control up to nine components including most brands of TV, VCR, DVD, satellite, cable/auxiliary (such as a personal video recorder), and four audio components. The LCD touchscreen displays a different default screen with key functions for the component currently being controlled. The remote has several advanced convenience features including SmartMacro that enables consumers to program a series of events to occur in sequential order. For example, a user can set up the remote to turn on the TV, set it to input one, turn on the satellite receiver and then set it to a specific channel. An event timer can also be programmed for up to four events. In addition, using the learning capabilities of the RCU1010, functions from the original remote can be learned. The touchscreen is backlit for ease of use in darker room environments.The RCU1010 is now available. Suggested retail price is $129.95.Two Eight-Device Models Reduce Remote Control ClutterBoth the RCU807 and the RCU811 universal learning remotes can control eight devices including TV, VCR, DVD, satellite/cable, CD/audio, and two auxiliary components such as a personal video recorder (PVR or DVR). The remotes feature LCD status displays that are capable of displaying 16 characters (two lines of eight characters) that provide a visual interface between the user and the remote. The remote prompts the user for each next step and validates correct entries. Up to 30 key commands can be stored for each original remote.The RCU807 and RCU811 also include the SmartMacro feature and event timers and the RCU811 has a fully backlit keypad for navigation in dark rooms.
