Triad's newest entry in its Monitor series is the InRoom Gold Monitor. Inspired by the InRoom Silver Monitor, the larger Gold version utilizes a similar driver configuration and enclosure type, but with a ""cost is no object"" approach. The driver complement consists of two 6.5-inch low-loss, linear suspension, sliced-cone Scan-Speak woofer/midrange drivers, and a premium Scan-Speak tweeter utilizing a 1-inch ring radiator, SD-2 neodymium motor, non-resonant aluminum chamber, machined aluminum faceplate and phase plug, and multiple-chamber low-compression design. Frequency response is said to extend beyond 40 kHz. Sensitivity is rated at 92 dB, 1 watt at 1 meter. The heavy, compact enclosure uses extensive asymmetrical bracing, and several different internal damping materials. The low-diffraction, minimalist grille is said to be virtually acoustically transparent. The InRoom Gold Monitor is suited to high-end home theatre applications, with horizontal placement for center channel. Although it is a full-range speaker, a subwoofer is recommended for larger venues. The InRoom Gold Monitor is available in Black Pebblestone finish and an array of real-wood veneer finishes. Also available is custom paint or veneer matching. List price is $3,200 each for the black finish, and availability is immediate. For more information about Triad Speakers, Inc., visit www.triadspeakers.com.
