Expanding its flat-screen television lineup, Sony Electronics introduced two additional LCD WEGAÆ models. The KLV-26HG2 model marks the company's first 26-inch widescreen flat-screen TV, while the new 21-inch KLV-21SG2 offers a 4:3 aspect ratio. The two new models feature a Memory StickÆ media slot for JPEG still image and MPEG-1 video playback, side A/V inputs, and a new, contemporary side speaker design. Additionally, the KLV-26HG2 is HDTV-ready, while the KLV-21SG2 can accept and display a 1080i and 720p signal through its component video input. Sony has included proprietary picture technologies in this G2 series, including: - Direct Digital II circuitry, which optimizes incoming the video signal to minimize video artifacts for cleaner signal processing - Digital Reality CreationÆ MultiFunction circuitry, which bit maps (upconverts) any NTSC source - Sony's proprietary LCD Panel Driver to improve fast-action, motion picture quality while minimizing image blur Another digital processing technology incorporated is CineMotionÆ reverse 3:2 pulldown circuitry. The new sets boast a viewing angle of 170 degrees. The widescreen KLV-26HG2 model has a native resolution of 1280 x 768 via a WXGA LCD panel, and features SRSÆ WOWô audio. The KLV-21SG2 model is equipped with an XGA panel, offering 1024 x 768 native resolution. The two new models join an LCD WEGA flat-panel TV family that includes five previously announced models (KLV-15SR1, KLV-23HR1, KLV-21SR2, KLV-23HR2, and the KLV-30XBR900) ranging in screen size from 15 to 30 inches.
