NEC Introduces New Family Of Multimedia Plasma Displays

NEC Solutions America introduced a new line of 42-, 50-, and 61-inch XGA native resolution plasma displays. Available now, the new multimedia displays have been redesigned from the ground up with greater brightness, a sleek new bezel, new internal circuitry, and new modules.""NEC's new plasma line cements the company's position as the only manufacturer able to meet virtually any display need with the industry's only full line of 42-inch, 50-inch, and 61-inch XGA plasma models,"" said Ron Gillies, Senior Vice President for NEC Solutions America, Visual Systems Division. ""The new displays also enhance NEC's award-winning image quality, reinforcing NEC as the industry's quality and reliability leader.""The PlasmaSyncÆ 42XM2, 50XM3, and 61XM2 use several exclusive technologies, including Digital AccuDevice, Capsulated Color Filterô, and AccuCrimsonô for reproduction of red colors. NEC's MASS technology is said to eliminate jagged lines and corrects color bleeds. The displays also feature enhanced scan conversion technology and 3:2 pulldown detection and processing.""NEC's new displays have been redesigned from the ground up for even greater image quality,"" said Keith Yanke, Product Manager for NEC Solutions America, Visual Systems Division. Advanced AccuBlendô scaling technology allows for display of 4:3 and 16:9 content from VGA to UXGA resolutions. There's also new color tuning technology which allows for individual color adjustments without altering the white balance, and gamma adjustments for over 4,000 adjustable shades of gray.NEC's new displays can be configured in either a 2 x 2 or a 3 x 3 matrix without an external processor. The units come equipped with 9 watts x 2 stereo audio (8 watts x 2 for the 42XM2) and a programmable timer.The 42XM2, 50XM3 and 61XM2 run at a rated 22 dB ambient fan noise.NEC's PlasmaSync 42XM2 is now shipping with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $6,495. The PlasmaSync 50XM3 and the PlasmaSync 61XM2 are also shipping with MSRPs of $9,995 and $19,995, respectively.
