Sherbourn has begun shipping its innovative two-channel A/V amplifier. Housed in a 1U-high, half-width chassis the 2/150 has an installed depth of 13 inches and can be rack mounted with an optional front panel. The unit weighs 11 pounds and its ""discrete"" circuitry will deliver 50/75 watts per channel into 4/8-ohm loads or a 150-watt, 8-ohm mono output. The 2/150 amplifies the audio signal from any video or audio unit and passes the signal to its designated speakers, and will automatically disconnect an external amplifier that may be using the same speakers. The unit includes Sherbourn's patent-pending LDS device that checks all speaker connections for any short circuits. The 2/150 also has a microprocessor that measures the impedance of the intended load to ensure long-term reliability and optimum performance. The 2/150's front panel has controls for input selection, delay/off switch, a separate ""B"" mode trigger level adjustment and a volume control. The rear panel has two sets of line-level inputs, two sets of speaker-level inputs, a set of buffered outputs, 12-volt trigger and music-sensing circuits, an adjustable turn-on control and two sets of removable speaker connectors. The 2/150 even has an 18 dB-per-octave subsonic filter to prevent low-frequency saturation of transformer volume controls.Ron Fone co-owner of Sherbourn, said, ""The initial response to the product has been terrific. The 2/150 is the first in a series of high-performance, easy-to-use, easy-to-install, half-width rack-mountable products that will delight dealers, installers and customers alike. The full line will include a multi-zone preamp, a distribution amplifier, a tuner and even a highly innovated fan unit."" The suggested retail price is $400.For more information about Sherbourn, visit www.sherbourn.com.
