Universal Remote Control Introduces New Retail Line To Deliver Custom-Level Performance At Mid-Market Prices

29-Jan-04

Universal Remote Control announced the rollout of three new remote controls and one RF receiver base station expansion unit. By combining high-end functionality and performance in a consumer-friendly product line for less than $200.00, the new Unifier (URC-100), Automator (URC-200), and Customizer (URC-300) universal learning remote controls, and Expander (MRF-100) RF base station effectively create a new market for performance value remote controls. ěWhereas previously there was a disconnect at the mid-market level between the sophistication of A/V components and the remote controls used to manage them, our new line enables consumers to select a remote that delivers high performance but is available at significantly more affordable price points,î said John Davis, President, Universal Remote Control. ěWith today's introductions we are taking an industry-leading position to elevate the remote control to the same level of sophistication and performance as active components in the home entertainment system.î In recognition of the product line's capability to provide consumers with a high level of functionality and performance previously found in high-end remote controls, Universal Remote Control was recognized at the 2004 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas with two Innovations Awards for product design and engineering. Each of the new remotes features advanced IR (infrared) and RF (radio frequency) technologies previously limited to high-end custom-install products. In addition, each remote control is compatible with the new Expander (MRF-100) that provides an affordable ěwhole-houseî solution to home theater operation. The Expander enables consumers to install and operate their out-of-sight A/V equipment, even in another room up to 100 feet away, and yet enjoy the same control as if it were located with the output devices. The Unifier, Automator and Customizer were created to meet different consumer needs, but all feature advanced Universal Remote Control technology and were designed to effortlessly control multiple components in order to deliver just the right level of home theater and component automation that customers require. The Unifier addresses the needs of any person that wants a very simple-to-install and simple-to-operate remote control to consolidate the operations of two or more remotes at home. The product can replace up to 8 different remote controls and features macro programming that enables consumers to take advantage and activate multi-commands of assorted A/V equipment functions with one-touch of a button. The Automator can replace up to 10 different remote controls and has a built-in library of over 1,000 codes for easy programming of components from all major brands. The LCD panel contrast can be easily adjusted and text labels can be customized making the URC-200 a versatile and desirable add-on to any home entertainment system. Comfortable navigation is enabled via a combination of wear-resistant buttons, and a 5-way thumb-pad for operation of menu-driven devices. The Customizer allows A/V enthusiasts to customize all aspects of home theater operation and was designed for power users. Using the highly responsive touch screen LCD panel, the Customizer can be programmed to execute macros including hundreds of commands with the press of a single button and has other advanced features including text editing, favorite channel programming, punch through operation, and more. The Customizer can consolidate the operations of up to 15 different remote controls. Each member of Universal Remote Control's new family will be accompanied by a DVD tutorial and batteries are included. For more information, please visit www.universalremote.com.
