NHT announced a new addition to its Evolution series thatís designed to enhance user control over sonics derived from the companyís Evolution speaker collection as well as its in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. The new A2 (MSRP of $500) is a Class G, full range (20 Hz - 20 kHz) 2-channel amplifier designed for a variety of uses with NHT speaker systems. The A-2 can be used to drive a stereo pair of Evolution monitors, provide stereo bass to the modular Evolution U2 and B5 subwoofers, or drive up to three pairs of in-wall or in-ceiling speakers for distributed audio. Similar to the single channel A1, the A2 offers wide dynamic range, low distortion and overall high efficiency, due in part to the ìpower on demandî feature that results in cooler operating temperatures.ìThe A2 adds another level of flexibility to NHTís Evolution line,î said Chris Byrne, General Manger of NHT. ìThis unique model is designed to be a space saving, full range amplifier for use with processor/preamps and in distributed audio systems.î NHTís A2, scheduled to ship in March 2004, is a full-frequency, 250 Watt amplifier that operates in high and low impedance modes, though its one-rack-unit height makes it adaptable to a variety of placement options. When in the high impedance mode, the A2 delivers 125 watts per channel at 12 ohms, 160 watts per channel at 8 ohms, and 180 watts per channel at 6 ohms which is ideal for powering Evolution subwoofers and monitors. In low impedance mode, the A2 delivers 105 watts at 4 ohms, and 175 watts per channel at 2 ohms, allowing it to drive up to three pairs of loudspeakers for distributed audio. Additional A2 features include both balanced and unbalanced inputs (XLR and RCA), plus five-way binding posts. A variety of power control options, such as automatic on/off at the presence of an audio signal and a 5-24v trigger allow end-users to leave the unit on without fear of wasting energy when the unit is in standby mode. For more information, please visit www.nhthifi.com.
