PMC is delighted to announce the launch of the new GB1at this yearís Sound & Vision Show in Bristol. The GB1 encompasses PMCís award-winning professional monitoring heritage in a compact and elegant design ideally suited to those seeking a loudspeaker with a miniature form that does not compromise on performance. Design cues and the advanced transmission line technology are derived from PMCís award-winning FB1 and OB1 designs. The GB1 employs an advanced transmission line with an effective line length of 2.4 m (7.8Ft). Drive units consist of the identical 27 mm fabric dome HF unit that appears in OB1 and a doped 140mm (5.5-inch) LF unit with cast magnesium alloy chassis. Both drivers have been selected due to their proven capabilities in both consumer and rigorous professional arenas. Sensitivity is high at 87dB 1W/1m this presents an easy load for any consumer amplifier therefore it will have a wide appeal to all audiophiles. The cabinet consists of 17mm CNC cut Medite panels, balanced veneered both in side and out to guarantee perfect stability. The cross bracing created by the TL labyrinth is 12mm Medite. This combines with precision cut joints, specified glues eradicating the effects of cabinet flex and colouration. As with all PMC crossover designs the steep roll offs are utilized ensuring higher power handling and superior phase characteristics. All components are tolerance-matched hand-assembled using silver loaded solder. All values are recorded resulting in an unprecedented and unrivalled attention to detail. Every component has to pass numerous electrical testing before the final product is computer analysed and compared to the reference model by ear. Only then will it pass QC.The accumulation of precision engineering adds up to a natural sounding product with great bass and superb imagery. Scale and depth really do belie the size of this svelte model. Availability is April 2004, and finishes available are Cherry or Black Ash.For more information, please visit www.pmc-speakers.com.
