Gefen Introduces HDTV Switching And Distribution Solutions For Integrated High-Definition Video Systems

Source Switching and Simultaneous Viewing Of Multiple High-Definition Displays With Ex-Tend-it HDTV Problem Solvers

23-Mar-04

Gefen, a source for high-definition connectivity and extension solutions, announced the release of several new ex-tend-it solutions at NSCA. Two new switchers provide high-definition displays access to multiple video sources, offering convenience and flexibility for the viewer. A 2x1 HDTV Digital Audio Switcher connects two HDTV sources to one high-definition display via DVI. Either source is viewed on the display when selected using the discrete IR remote control. HDCP compliant imagery plus accompanying audio in TOSlink or coax format are transmitted for each source. The 2x1 HDTV Digital Audio Switcher is designed to connect two sources, such as a DVD player and satellite set top box, to one high-definition display with each source accessible at any time. It comes with DVI and audio cabling for source connections. A more advanced 4x4 HDTV Matrix connects four high-definition video sources to four displays or projectors via DVI. Each source routes HDCP compliant, high-definition video to the display. When used with one of Gefen's extenders, sources and displays can each be extended up to hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of feet. The 4x4 HDTV Matrix is ideal for multi-room applications that require cross point switching. It can be programmed for use with any universal remote though it comes with its own IR remote control. On the distribution side, Gefen released a new high-definition distribution amplifier that allows one or two high-definition video sources to output to eight high-definition displays using DVI connectors. The ex-tend-it 2:8 HDTV Distribution Amplifier splits the HDTV signal eight ways enabling simultaneous, multi-display viewing. It is HDCP-compliant, ensuring that high resolution data is accurately reproduced for optimum output. It provides two DVI inputs, which enables switching between two sources, and eight DVI outputs. Each source, when selected, will distribute up to eight video signals. The 2:8 HDTV Splitter was designed for professional and commercial environments that require multiple displays showing the same high-definition video information. It is compatible with high-definition video sources such as DVD players and satellite set top boxes, and high-definition displays and projectors that utilize DVI connectors.
