Toshiba Expands Comb Filter Front-End Processor Lineup With Its First Dedicated 3-Line Comb Filter Front-End Processor

Highly Integrated, High-Quality Device Reduces Cost and Design Complexity of Consumer Video Products

31-Mar-04

Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC), announced its first dedicated 3-line comb filter front-end processor. Designated TC90101FG, the highly-integrated comb filter front-end processor pro-vides high-quality analog video luma and chroma separation, multi-standard color decoding, and advanced picture improvement functions such as sharpness, LTI, and CTI. The digital YCbCr output provides a high-picture-quality interface to back-end digital video processors. The device is equipped with a 10-bit analog-to-digital (A/D) converter for composite video or luma input signals and employs next-generation, Toshiba proprietary line comb algorithms for superior picture quality. Housed in a low-cost, compact 100-pin LQFP surface mount package, the device reduces the cost and design complexity of consumer video products, including advanced analog and digital television, set-top box and other broadcast video electronics products. ìCompared to existing 2D comb filter products in the market, the TC90101FG offers a lower cost, higher quality solution,î said David Cruikshank, Senior Business Development Engineer or Digital Consumer products in the ASSP Business Unit at Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. ìThis advanced product complements the TC90A92AFG 3D comb filter front-end processor, announced late last year, and continues the companyís leadership in the digital consumer segment.î Key features of the TC90101FG are built-in multi-standard three-line digital comb filter; integrated multi-standard digital color decoder and picture improvement circuits; digital YCbCr output for a high-picture-quality interface to back-end digital video processors; inclusion of a 10-bit A/D converter for CVBS/Y inputs; support of up to 525p/625p resolutions for enhanced definition TV; low-power consumption: <500mW; and a housed in a lead-free LQFP100 surface mount package. Samples of the device are currently available; volume production is planned to begin in June, 2004. Current pricing is $7.00 each in 10,000-piece quantities.
