Two New SENSIO 3D Films Bring World Class Theme Park Experience To Home Theatre

4-May-04

Two thrilling new films join SENSIO's growing library of 3D movies formatted for the SENSIO 3D video processing system. Previously available for viewing only in theme park rides, ìMovie Ride Madnessî and ìMore Movie Ride Madnessî bring new levels of action and awe to the fully immersive SENSIO 3D home theatre experience. ìWith a combination of computer-generated imagery and dramatic live-action, ìMovie Ride Madnessî and ìMore Movie Ride Madnessî will appeal to kids, teens and adults,î says SENSIO's President, Nicholas Routhier. ìThese new films bring a compelling 3D experience right in the comfort of your home, using standard home theatre components.î Viewers are treated to a vivid fantasy ride through Ali Baba's cave; they'll feel the drop as they plummet in the lead car of the world's scariest roller coasters and hold their breath as they swoop through the sky in a World War II fighter. ìIn the space shuttle ride, the incredible 3D effect, when docking with the International Space Station,î Routhier continues, ìgives a sense of what space travel is all about.î Winner of the CES 2003 Product Innovation Award in Las Vegas and a ìBest of Showî finalist at the 2004 Electronica USA conference in San Francisco, the SENSIO 3D video processing system is a giant leap forward in home theatre viewing. Gone are the red and blue cardboard goggles, and gone are the fuzzy images. SENSIO 3D produces brilliant, full-resolution digital images that burst into life with the help of high-tech, lightweight wireless LCD glasses that synchronize with the film, feeding separate images to the left and right eyes so quickly that the brain is fooled into seeing a single, spectacular three-dimensional scene. Sharp, bright, vividly colored images appear behind or in front of the viewing screen, or seem to zoom straight past viewers, giving them a feeling of being part of the action rather than just watching it. ìThe beauty of this system is that it provides crisp, dramatic 3D with a regular DVD player hooked up to a front or rear projection TV, which most home theatre owners already have,î says Richard LaBerge, SENSIO's VP of Sales and Marketing. ìAnd with 3D digital TV coming soon, this technology will bring a whole new level of viewer involvement to televised sporting events, concerts and live theatre. It's like you're right there in the front row.î Over 200 3D films exist. Many are already in the SENSIO library and the company is actively pursuing the rest. In addition to ìMovie Ride Madnessî and ìMore Movie Ride Madness,î SENSIO 3D titles include ìEncounter in the Third Dimension,î a trip through 3D filmmaking from its earliest days to the present, and ìTransitions,î the world's first IMAXTM 3D production that moves viewers through 100 years of innovations in transportation and communications. SENSIO predicts eight more titles coming in 2004. SENSIO has met with major production studios like MGM, DreamWorks SKG, LightStorm Entertainment (James Cameron's production company), Disney, Warner Brothers, and lately Universal Studios. ìThey see the benefits of the new 3D technology and recognize 3D's appeal on audiences all over the world,î says LaBerge. ìStudios and producers are always seeking new ways of telling their stories. 3D enables a new approach to filmmaking that sparks producers' creativity and captures their audience. Much like other advances in filmmaking such as color, widescreen format and enhanced soundtracks, we see all future films becoming available in 3D. It's inevitable.î For more information, please visit www.sensio.tv.
