ELAN Home Systemsí new, whole house D1650 Digital Power Amplifier will be unveiled to ELAN Dealers and industry press at the ELAN TRIO 2004 Summit to be held from May 13 through 16, 2004 in Lexington, Kentucky. Another breakthrough amplifier from ELAN, the D1650 is a 16-channel amplifier that features Class-T digital technology and 800+ watts of power at a 90-percent efficiency rating, and simultaneously delivers 50 watts at 4 Ohms to each of the 16 channels. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELANís President and Chief Technology Officer. Because of the D1650ís cool-running digital technology, this unique amplifier can be installed in enclosed areas such as custom cabinetry without the worry of overheating itself or other components. In addition, the unit is slim at three rack spaces high, instead of the five-rack height of non-digital amplifiers with comparable power ratings.The D1650 is clean, cool, cost effective and small in size, yet big in power. It is able to drive up to eight pairs of stereo speakers, 16 mono speakers or any combination of the two. And, because it is stable down to 4 Ohms, multiple speakers can be connected to each channel without the need for impedance-matching volume controls. Designed for the specialty Dealer, the D1650 features 16 inputs that can be easily configured for mono, stereo, bussed mono or bussed stereo. ELAN also eliminated the need for extra patch cables and Y-cords through two Universal Stereo Bus inputs with buffered outputs. The D1650 and its companion amplifier, ELANís D1200, are the only digital amps with anti-clipping features, which are provided by ELANís patent-pending ACE (Automatic Clip Eliminator) technology. ACE is a microprocessor-controlled dynamic leveling circuit that eliminates clipping without the typical audio degradation of traditional compressor-based clipping circuits.
