Samsung Electronics America, Inc launched its new DLP lineup, which includes its 63-Series, the first DLP TVs to use next generation DLP HD3 chip. In addition, Samsung introduced the HLP5085W, a new 50-inch pedestal DLP TV that offers consumers a system that couples compact, compelling design with best-of-class performance. We expect this new series to become the reference for all others to follow and it underscores our commitment to consumers - they know they can rely on Samsung to continue to drive the marketplace and stay on top of improvements in HDTV technology.î Samsungís new 63-Series of DLPs range in screen sizes from 46-inch to 63-inch, including the 46-inch HLP4663W, the 50-inch HLP5063W, the 56-inch HLP5663W and the 61-inch HLP6163W. Samsungís new Cinema Smooth Light Engine brings consumers improved brightness, a 1500:1 contrast ratio and a seamless, stunning film-like picture. In addition, the 63-Series also converts all inputs to its native display format 1,280 x 720 progressive display via all new and enhanced video processing enhancements that begin with Samsungís latest DNI-e video enhancer and a new 2-3 pull down and scaling solution chipset from Genesis Microchips. These enhancements combined with improvements in the color correction system, the addition of 1 DVI-HDTV input and 1 HDMI input plus 2 Component Video Input, ensure that the 63-series DLP TVs by Samsung are positioned as clear performers that will set a new standard for micro-display sets this year. Each of these models will be in stores by end of June and July 2004. The HLP4663W has a MSRP of $3,299. The HLP5063W has an MSRP of $3,699. The HLP5663W has an MSRP of $4,199. The HLP6163 has an MSRP of $4,699.The new floor-standing pedestal-mounted designer series opens with the new HLP5085W, which is sure to catch the eye of the consumer whether itís on or off. This beautiful system is designed with HD2 Plus Texas Instrument DMD Chipset, the Samsung Proprietary Cinema Smooth Gen 4HD Optic System and has outstanding black levels that weigh in at a minimum of 2500:1 contrast ratio, a dramatic performance improvement. Functional enhancements include a discreet IR code operation DVI, HDMI, PC inputs and 2 HD component video inputs. This new generation of DLP TV offers a unique balance of style and performance at an affordable price point. The HLP5085 will be available at the end of July 2004 and has an MSRP of $4,299. A 56-inch version, the HLP5685W, will launch in July with a MSRP of $4,999.99Also on display at the Home Entertainment Show this weekend is Samsung's DLP Front Projector, the SPH700AE. Samsung's first entry into the front projection business is expected to re-define DLP picture quality for the single DMD class of front projectors.
