McIntosh Laboratory, introduces the MC275 Vacuum Tube Power Amplifier, the fourth-generation of our most popular tube amplifier. The MC275 is a 2 x 75 watt power amplifier at 4, 8, or 16 ohms or 1 x 150 watts at 2, 4, or 8 ohms. By utilizing DC12V for the input tube heaters the signal-to-noise ratio is improved. Balanced and unbalanced inputs guard against induced noise and allow long cable runs without compromising sound integrity. Senior McIntosh design engineers took the original MC275 and integrated new technologies including a computer-aided board layout design technique that results in a single board replacing traditional point-to-point wiring. All components, power-supply parts and new ceramic tube sockets are mounted on this board. All housed within the classic and unmistakable look of a polished stainless steel chassis. The MC275 includes the famous McIntosh developed and patented Unity Coupled Circuit utilizing the bifilar wound output transformer that lowers distortion, extends frequency response and cools the operating output tubes. The unique aspect of the unity-coupled circuit is that the transformer must be wound in a specific, tight coupling manner. McIntosh winds the output transformer coils in-house and pots the transformers in liquid tar for that nestled, quieting effect. The MC275 is delivered complete with a premium tube set consisting of three 12AX7A tubes for inputs and phase inverter, four 12AT7 tubes for voltage amplifiers and driver tubes of the four KT88 outputs. The MC275 is shipping now at a manufacturerís suggested retail price of $3,500. The MC275 will be officially introduced at the Home Entertainment Show 2004 in New York City. For more information, please visit www.mcintoshlabs.com.
