The Home Electronics Division of Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. introduced the PJTX100 UltraVision 1.78:1 (16:9) LCD front projector, which utilizes a new high-definition three-panel LCD light engine. The new projector is equally at home in darker home theater environments as well as living rooms with relatively bright ambient light. The PJTX100 is designed for 30- to 300-inch screen sizes with a brightness of 1,200 ANSI lumens, 1200:1 contrast ratio and 720p resolution (1280x720). ìHitachi has leveraged decades of optical engineering expertise in designing this new home theater projector,î said Bill Whalen, Senior Product Manager for Hitachi America, Ltd., Home Electronics Division. ìThe advanced Super Focus Quattro ELD Lens design and three panel optical engine technology combine to produce photographic quality images with exceptional color purity and contrast. It also adds a compact home theater alternative to our full line of large screen plasma, LCD and rear-projection televisions.î The PJTX100 is equipped with Hitachi's proprietary Super-Focus Quattro ELD Lens which combines four extra-low dispersion lenses and two aspherical lenses to reproduce 720p high definition images with exceptional focus quality. The projector has extensive imaging features including a 1.6x optical zoom, and both vertical and horizontal optical lens shifting. These high quality image features allow users to install the projector away from the direct center of a room, without picture distortion caused by digital processing such as keystoning. Additional features of the PJTX100 include Whisper Mode quiet operation to reduce noise output to an industry low of 25db. A wide range of input/output options including DVI-HDTV, component and auto-synching RGB computer input. For picture adjustments, Hitachi includes an exclusive Eight-Step Gamma Curve adjustment, as well as five picture preset modes and up to four customizable memory modes to save key adjustment settings. Important to these picture adjustment features is a 10-step motorized iris to adjust brightness for varied room environments. The PJTX100 measures 137/16 x 59/16 x 111/16 inches and weighs just over 9 lbs. The unit will be available in Q2 2004 and will retail for $3,999.99.
