Maybe it's a signal that the American TV audience is growing weary of reality programming. Or, perhaps viewers just don't want to admit that they love watching folks humiliate each other and eat bugs. Whatever the reason, a majority of respondents to the Circuit City Fall TV Survey said they're tired of reality shows. When asked about reality TV, 58-percent said, ""Enough Already! Give me a break!"" Like it or not, there's plenty of reality programming in the new fall TV schedule. Networks are offering at least 15 reality shows this fall, compared to six last year. With the new TV season kicking off, the Circuit City survey also discovered the following: --Many viewers (47-percent) are looking forward to new prime time programming, followed by the new football season (28-percent), Presidential election coverage (15-percent), and the 2004 World Series (10-percent).--Fifty-nine percent of respondents admit to falling asleep in front of the TV at least once a week; 13-percent said they do it every night.--Fifty-seven percent have TV sets in at least three rooms in their houses.--Thirty-four percent said they plan to purchase a new set within the next year. Of those, 56-percent plan to buy a flat-panel TV.--Picture quality (94-percent), price (81-percent), and picture size (69-percent) are the most important attributes shoppers consider before purchasing a new TV.--High-definition televisions (HDTV) ranked highest (34-percent) as the best advance in TV in recent years; coming a close second, with 27-percent of the vote, was a bigger picture in a smaller cabinet. The ""Circuit City Fall TV Survey"" was commissioned by Circuit City Stores, Inc. and was conducted on the Internet by Decision Analyst of Arlington, Texas.
