Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America (MDEA) Adds Eight Digital Cable Ready HDTV Projection Televisions To 2004 Product Line; Fully Integrated Sets Provide Near-HD Picture Quality From SD Digital Cable Channels

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Inc., will present eight fully integrated Digital Cable Ready HDTV projection televisions at CEDIA EXPO 2004 in Indianapolis. The Digital Cable Ready TVs include the 48-inch WS-48515, the 55-inch WS-55515, and the 65-inch WS-65515; the Medallion 55-inch WS-55615, 65-inch WS-65615 and the 73-inch WS-73615; and the Diamond 55-inch WS-55815 and 65-inch WS-65815. The new televisions will be available at selected retailers this year. Each of the eight widescreen televisions will accept CableCARD, a programmable card that eliminates the need for conventional cable TV set-top boxes. (All major cable TV service providers will support CableCARD, set to be introduced by July 1, 2004 per FCC regulations.) The new TVs all feature AMVP2, Mitsubishi's second-generation Advanced Multimedia Video Processor, an improved upconversion processor which provides a more fluid, film-like image with less video noise, and works particularly well with standard definition digital cable signals. ""This is yet another example of how Mitsubishi's leadership in digital technology benefits the consumer,"" said Max Wasinger, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America.""The new Digital Cable Ready sets not only eliminate having to rent, configure and position a set-top box and cables, but they also give the owner a full palette of formatting and digital recording options."" Each of the new models also comes with Mitsubishiís ChannelView, an on-screen channel map. The Diamond models are further supplemented by Mitsubishi's expanded MediaCommand 5-format digital memory card reader. All feature IEEE 1394 interfaces for digital home networking; NetCommand 4.0 system control, which makes the television an easy-to-use command center for a full home theater system; and Mitsubishi's PerfectColor technology, which enables precise 6-way color adjustment for each input and signal.
