First Impressions Theme Theatres Creates Hollywood-Style Full Animation 3-D Presentations At CEDIA EXPO 2004

7-Sep-04

First Impressions Theme Theatres, Miami, Florida-based private theatre architects, designers and builders announces a new expansion of its architectural and design department to include expanded and highly advanced full animation 3-D ìin-theatreî presentations, now with audio and special effects mix. The firm will demonstrate its new technology at this yearís CEDIA Expo. First Impressions Theme Theatres recently acquired an elaborate computer system; close in specifications to Hollywoodís film animators, to make ìtheatre moviesî for its dealer clients. The firm makes CDís or DVDís of each cinema project before construction, to see how it will look by volume, geometry, texture and finish, right down to parting curtains, fade to black and ìreal timeî on-screen movies. The finished presentation feels like youíre in your own personalized cinema as viewed from a TV or computer screen. Jeffrey Smith, C.A.S., President of First Impressions said, ìWe are in the movie business, to a certain extent, and this is the very best way we know to show customers precisely what the theatre will look like in its installed version. It is extremely exciting to construct a theatre space in our computers before the first nail is drivenî, added Smith. ìAll players in the project, the general contractor, architect, homeowner, CEDIA audio-video dealer, and client now have a full and graphic understanding of the magnitude and elaborateness of the projectís design by ìwalking the theatre.î From back to front we get 360? vistas. The presentation ramps lights down to black, curtains open and a movie plays. ìItís the theatre it will be when the installation is completedî, said Smith. The ìreal pictureî can be sent via e-mail or disc to the client, and CEDIA Dealer, who at their leisure can view the finished vision in their office or home computer or on a DVD player. Modifications to the theme are easily made into this modeling tool. ìThese are clearly cutting edge architectural design and presentation skills for the private cinema marketî, added Smith.î The Animation Department of First Impressions takes five distinctive steps in producing the new 3-D visualization for CGTI (computer generated theatre imagery) as modeling, applying materials, lighting the scene, composing the image and then rendering the scene. Adds Smith, ì3-D modeling could be the mainstay in our cyber tool box. Once the project is modeled we have the ability to show the client many views, many scenes, from different directions and viewpoints, a distinct advantage over the single view hand drawn rendering perspective, or even our full color 3-D perspectives. We are very pleased,î added Smith, ìthat we have invested in this new technology and that our architectural and design department have become so well trained to use these phenomenal 3-D tools and software. ìNo one in the home theatre design industry has this advanced presentation tool or has shown such proficiency as we have in utilizing this art form,î added Smith.
