First Impressions Theme Theatres, a Miami, Florida-based specialty architecture, design, manufacturing and installation firm who builds private in-home theatres announces upgrades to its First Impressions Theatre Transporter (F.I.T.T.) with the newest A-V technologies. The 40-foot black and chrome ìbig rigî is a $400,000, 500hp stretched Kenworth tractor chassis with custom-built aluminum motor coach body. It has a built-in air-conditioned and heated shop, leather-clad comfort and telecommunications lounge, AutoCAD drafting station, and a ìDusk-to-Dawnî fiber optic ceiling. The F.I.T.T. takes First Impressionsí theatre interior products, installation equipment, and crew anywhere projects may be in the Continental United States. The hybrid motor/truck coach also has a digital fireplace, marble bathroom, Galley, and temporary sleeping facilities for three. Jeffrey W. Smith, C.A.S., President of First Impressions said, ìF.I.T.T.ís best feature is its new 8- x 10-foot On-Board Digital Cinema now with NECís latest HT1100 video projector with a 6-foot throw distance, a KVH in-motion satellite system, Videon line scaler, and Vutecís latest Silver Star multi-aspect dropdown screen. 5.1-channel surround sound and subwoofers are by Phase Tech, with total systems and lighting control through Crestron and Lutron. All gear was installed by CEDIA member firms. The F.I.T.T. does double-duty as an on-site demo facility at a First Impressions dealerís business, trade show, or customerís home. ìWe can even cook up freshly popped popcorn or serve up chilled champagne in our on-board CineBar to round out the movie experience,î added Smith. Sponsoring AV manufacturers can also use the custom transporter for regional dealer training or planned promotional endeavors (see list of AV sponsors). Smith said, ìThis may be the only truck chassis in the county with a state-of-the-art High Definition projection theatre where traditionally a sleeper cab would be. We installed all our proprietary insulation, isolation and AcouSculpt Sound Management products in the mini auditoria. The 60-inch diagonal 1.78:1 (16:9) ìhi-defî video image and surround sound effects are absolutely incredible.î The company also has a pair of ìtheatre-lessî 20 foot F.I.T.T.ís to handle regional projects within 750 miles of First Impressionsí Miami, Florida offices. The 40 foot F.I.T.T. was built for large venue coast-to-coast installation missions and carry every conceivable tool or machinery device for high-end cabinetry, millwork, upholstery and painting. Added Smith, ìAs a high-end private theatre interior solution provider dealing in very exacting and elaborate custom projects and products, to have such a specialized piece of equipment on site parked in the finest neighborhoods in America is also phenomenal marketing exposure, for our company and participating AV Dealers. FITT is beyond luxury. It has become a necessity for us to professionally install our turnkey theatre projects. First Impressions Theme Theatres also operates F.I.L.M. (First Impressions Luxury MotorCoaches, Inc.), a separate division that markets completed F.I.T.T.-style motor coaches to Floridaís film and video production industries.
