Record of the Year Awarded To Edvard Grieg SACD

The Grieg Society of Great Britain has chosen to give its Record of the Year Award 2003 to BIS-SACD-1291. This disc is the second instalment in our series of the orchestral music of Edvard Grieg, in interpretations by the composer's ""own"" orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic, and conductor Ole Kristian Ruud. As is the rest of the series, this release is a hybrid Super Audio CD, with the option of a surround sound version. Reviewers around the world have remarked upon the freshness of the interpretations, as well as the high quality of the recordings. The award from the Grieg Society will be presented to Lorentz Reitan, director of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra at a ceremony at the Norwegian ambassador's residence in London on the 16th October.
