Boston Acoustics, Inc. has introduced the uniquely compact, high-performance VRi555 In-Ceiling Loudspeaker. The new VRi555 joins Boston Acoustics' VRi Series of in-wall and in-ceiling loudspeakers, as well as two DSi Series models, the DSi455 and Stereo DSi455T2 In-Ceiling Loudspeakers, also exhibited at CEDIA. All three loudspeakers share a unique design technology enabling a 6-inch woofer to fit and flawlessly perform in the cut-out, or footprint, usually provided for a 5.25-inch driver. VRi Series Loudspeakers are direct descendants of Boston Acoustics' acclaimed reference-quality loudspeaker systems, with much of the engineering created for the superb enclosed loudspeakers skillfully adapted for the in-wall/in-ceiling environment. DSi Series Loudspeakers offer models available for any audio budget while delivering uncompromising performance and styling designed to be virtually invisible. The new VRi555 In-Ceiling Loudspeaker delivers superb detail and bass response from a small cut-out size. It features a 6-inch copolymer woofer with Boston Acoustics' Deep Channel Design (DCD) technology that enables the woofer to utilize a smaller-than-expected enclosure. The loudspeaker includes a one-inch aluminum VR tweeter, and a die-cast woofer basket and baffle that add rigidity and ensure precise alignment of the driver components for unparalleled accuracy and near-zero distortion. A unique pivoting tweeter cup, also die-cast aluminum, acts as a heat sink and makes it easier to attain the finest quality sound in any room. A boundary compensation switch allows an installer to tailor the sound of each VRi555 to each client's needs, counteracting, for example, the effect of being installed too close to or far from a listening area's corner. The result is optimum sound, regardless of where the loudspeaker is installed. The DSi455 In-Ceiling Loudspeaker also delivers exceptional performance from a small cut-out size. It features a 6-inch copolymer woofer with Boston Acoustics' DCD technology, a 0.75-inch Kortec pivoting tweeter, and a unique floating tweeter island for wide sound dispersion. The DSi455T2 In-Ceiling Loudspeaker features, in the same compact space, a pair of side-by side tweeters enabling it to deliver stereo sound from a single location and a small cut-out. It also features a 6-inch copolymer woofer with DCD technology, dual 3/4-inch Kortec pivoting tweeters, dual voice coils, and a floating tweeter island for wide sound dispersion. VRi and DSi listeners also enjoy The Boston Sound , an acclaimed feature of all Boston Acoustics loudspeaker systems that reproduces music and movie sound with exceptional accuracy. The Boston Sound delivers the music and sound effects as artists intended with a pure neutral tonal consistency that remains the same for all Boston Acoustics loudspeakers, including the Vri555, DSi455 and DSi455T2, no matter how many or how variously they may be mounted. The VRi555, DSi455 and DSi455T2 Loudspeakers are available now from authorized Boston Acoustics dealers at suggested prices, respectively, of $250 each, $150 each, and $200 each.
