New Six Channel Digital Processor Offers Precision Equalization And Crossover Functions

AudioControl announces the release of their new DQXS, a six-channel digital equalizer that also includes an eight channel 24 dB/octave crossover. The six inputs on the DQXS make it a good interface with a multitude of source units, whether they have two, four, or six output channels. The DQXS's programming menu actually allows a user to select an input configuration that optimizes the system's performance. Additionally, because the DQXS is equipped with high-impedance inputs, it can accept high-wattage signals from most factory-installed source units and amplifiers.""Car audio enthusiasts are in constant pursuit of ways to achieve great sound in their vehicles while taking up as little physical space as possible,"" explains Chris Kane of AudioControl. ""The DQXS gives a user unprecedented amounts of control over the performance of their system as it provides key features such as detailed equalization and precision crossover capabilitiesÖ.all in one compact chassis!""The DQXS begins with AudioControl's full complement of uncompromising equalization controls. The front and subwoofer channels offer precision, one-third octave spaced constant-Q equalization for each channel plus two completely programmable parametric equalization controls. The rear channels also have two completely independent parametric equalizers plus 19 one-half octave spaced controls per channel. All told, the DQXS has a total of 142 equalization filters!Additionally AudioControl has equipped the DQXS with a full, eight-channel 3-way electronic crossover. A user can send signals to front highpass, front bandpass, rear highpass and subwoofer outputs. An exclusive AudioControl feature, the PFM (Programmable Frequency Match) subsonic filter is provided to ensure tight, clean bass performance. Since the DQXS performs its processing in the digital domain, a user can easily select crossover points in precise 1/12-octave increments.All crossover and equalization settings can be saved and or recalled by a user from one of eight non-volatile memory locations. The DQXS can be operated from the driver's seat or other location using AudioControl's DDC (Digital Dash Control) which is an option that is sold separately. Released earlier this year, the DDC is a DIN size control that allows remote operation of AudioControl digital processors. Like AudioControl's other digital processors, the DQXS utilizes a unique 24-bit digital signal processor (DSP) that is specially designed for use in equalization and dynamics processing. In addition, matching 24-bit, AD/DA converters are incorporated for maximum sound quality and dynamic range.The new DQXS six channel equalizer from AudioControl has a U.S. price of $599 and will be available in February 2005.
