KEY DIGITAL SYSTEMS, Inc. is launching the HD Explorer HDMI Video Card featuring an integrated digital video scaler for Pioneerís open slot Plasma Displays. The HD Explorer offers an all digital video signal path, via itís four HDMI inputs, for use with Pioneer 43î and 50î CMX Plasma Displays. Additionally, virtually any Component Video, RGB, Composite Video and S-Video sources can be accommodated and scaled to the native resolution of the Pioneer Display. The new HD Explorer Cardís output is directly interfaced to the plasma through a proprietary internal digital RGB connection for the highest quality video image. The HD Explorer can also accept both analog and digital audio inputs, and can output both audio formats to a surround sound system. The HD Explorer Card is designed to serve as a sophisticated and reliable digital backbone for Pioneer 43î and 50î CMX Plasma Displays. It will accommodate any home theater, commercial, or retail installation, and is renown for its ability to scale all popular HDTV and SDTV input formats (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i/540p) to a Native Resolution Rate of 1280x768 (Pioneer Model PDP-504CMX) or 1024 x 768 (Pioneer Model PDP-434CMX). The new HD Explorer Card is designed to be the digital infrastructure for all home theater video sources, accepting all world formats (PAL, SECAM, and NTSC), world voltages and frequencies of 60 Hz and 50 Hz. Standard Definition inputs include Component Video, S-Video, and Composite; High Definition video inputs include Component, RGBHV, and HDMI. It is also the only digital scaler card offering true all-digital throughout via its HDMI inputs and internal digital RGB connection. This digital connectivity eliminates any noise contamination of the original luminance and chrominance source material during an analog conversion process. The HD Explorer Card uses many Key Digital proprietary technologies including: - Clear Matrix Proô -- An Advanced Motion Assisted Scaling De-Interlacing Algorithm with film detection inverse 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown detection processing for 60 Hz and 50 Hz rates. The Clear Matrix Pro algorithm calculates the best value for each pixel, controlling every motion aspect for both chrominance and luminance. - SDSô (Super Digital Scaling) -- Delivers world-class all digital scaling by taking the video image to the native resolution of the display with no artifacts attached to the video image. - TBC -- TBC is a time based correction circuit that gives superior performance from VCR tape machines. This design compensates for the video delays that can occur in the mechanical head system of VCR tape playback - LSDC - LSDC is an adjustable Lip Sync Delay Compensation circuit that is accessible from the on-screen display. It allows for the delay of up to 10 frames of video to correct for the possible lack of synchronization in the audio and video signals. - DEE - Two-dimensional Digital Edge Enhancement for producing a sharper video presentation. The result is a smoothness, beauty and color saturation that is film-like in its imaging. The HD Explorer Card has numerous picture adjustment capabilities including Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Tint, Horizontal and Vertical Position and Size, Aspect Ratio Conversion, Lip Sync Delay Compensation Adjustment, Volume, Digital Edge Enhancement, and RGB Calibration Levels. All the of picture adjustments, including the RGB setting, can be set individually for each input on the HD Explorer. Adjusting the numerous controls can be accomplished by using the supplied remote control and the on-screen display. Additional control, via the Pioneerís RS232 port, allows the HD Explorer Card to work with numerous commercial and home automation systems such as Crestron. The HD Explorer Card has a price of $1,595 and will start shipping during the Spring of 2005. For more information, visit http://www.keydigital.com
