The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced the nominees from 10 categories for the 2004 Academy of Digital Television (DTV Academy) Pioneers Awards. The awards will be presented on March 15th at a special luncheon during CEA's 10th annual ""HDTV Summit - The Analog Cut-Off: What will it take? What are the opportunities?"" The conference will be held at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center on March 15th.At the luncheon, nominees from 10 DTV Award categories will be recognized for their outstanding achievements in the advancement of HDTV throughout 2004. Award winners will be announced during a dynamic high-definition production. The fifth annual Academy of Digital Television Pioneers Awards luncheon is included in the HDTV Summit registration.The annual awards are chosen by members of the DTV Academy, a select group of more than 200 individuals who have played a significant role in the decade-long effort that has made digital television a reality for consumers. The DTV Academy includes individuals from the broadcasting, program development, consumer electronics manufacturing and retail industries, as well as present and former government officials and members of the media. For instance, the previous categories representing the broadcasting industry - Best DTV Broadcast Network and Best Local DTV Broadcaster - were eliminated to capture broadcasting successes in one new ""Best DTV Over-the-Air Network"" award. Additionally, the Best DTV Satellite Service category now is the Best DTV Cable or Satellite Service award. Finally, the DTV Academy believes the existing categories fully reflect achievements in 2004 and, therefore, opted not to present a ""DTV Academy Award of Distinction"" for 2004.CEA will continue celebrating industry and government leaders' achievements at the first annual Digital Patriots Dinner held the evening of March 15th. The dinner will honor innovation, technology and the leaders of the digital revolution and bridges the HDTV Summit and a new CEA conference - ""IP & Creativity: Redefining the Debate.""
