Harman Kardon ABH 4; 4-Room A-BUS Expansion Hub

15-May-05

The Harman Kardon ABH 4 4-Room A-BUS Expansion Hub is the first A-BUS distribution product offered by the company. It connects to the A-BUS output of a Harman Kardon A-BUS Ready receiver, and distributes stereo audio, power and control signals to up to four Harman Kardon AB 1 amplified in-wall modules (or other A-BUS-compatible devices) in up to four rooms in remote locations. Multiple ABH 4 units can be cascaded for larger multiroom installations. The ABH 4 offers an easy to install, cost-effective means of expanding the A-BUS multiroom functionality of Harman Kardon A-BUS Ready receivers, which include the AVR 7300, AVR 635, AVR 435, DPR 2005 and DPR 1005, as well as compatible past Harman Kardon receivers. The ABH 4 uses a single, standard Cat. 5 cable to connect to a receiver, and also uses Cat. 5 cables to feed the AB 1 modules, which are wall-mounted and located in remote zones. The ABH 4 utilizes fully buffered A-BUS outputs to provide superior sound quality even when using extremely long cable runs. In addition, the ABH 4 features stereo audio inputs, enabling any receiver with RCA-jack line-level multiroom audio outputs to interface with the ABH 4 and deliver audio to connected AB 1 amplified in-wall modules. The ABH 4 also includes four IR emitter outputs, enabling IR control of connected source components in remote locations, and includes a dedicated power supply. The ABH 4 operates in conjunction with the Harman Kardon AB 1 amplified in-wall module, a highly compact, in-wall-mountable stereo amplifier module for A-BUS applications that features a built-in stereo amplifier to power a pair of speakers without the need for additional equipment or AC power connections. In addition, the AB 1 includes a volume control, and an integrated IR sensor. The Harman Kardon ABH 4 4-Room A-BUS Expansion Hub will be available in June 2005 at a suggested retail price of $219.
