Three RCA and ProScan brand DVD players with a broad range of convenience features and home entertainment options provide consumers with the ultimate high-resolution home movie viewing experience on a convenient five-inch disc. Available this fall, the players include the RCA RC5910P with five-disc changer (suggested retail price $499), the RCA RC5220P featuring DolbyÆ Digital and DTSÆ Digital Surround audio capability (suggested retail price $399), and the ProScan PS8682 (suggested retail price $449) with precise jog shuttle control. The three players deliver picture resolution (720 pixels per horizontal line) greater than twice the definition of standard VHS videotape. The greater storage capacity of DVD discs permit the addition of innovative features such as Parental Rating Control, enabling the viewer to make choices regarding preferred language, subtitles, and ratings limits of movies when discs are encoded by the studios. Another convenience feature is the Subtitle and Multi-Language Capability that supports up to eight different audio languages, 32 different subtitle tracks, and closed captioning. For the ultimate in choice for DVD movie selection, the RCA5910P offers the opportunity to view up to five consecutive full-length movies without changing a single disc. The viewer also has the option of mixing movie discs with favorite audio or video CDs to create hours of uninterrupted, personalized entertainment. Loaded with performance features, the RC5910P is equipped with a fully interactive front-panel display for easy operation along with jog-shuttle dial control and automatic track selection for CDs. Additional convenience features include four-speed smooth forward and reverse scan modes for quick access to specific scenes, and full-function front panel navigation controls for easy operation when the remote is not being used, as well as two sets of A/V Outputs, Component Video Output, and both Coaxial and Optical Digital Connections. The universal remote control operates up to six different products; a learning remote, it can operate competitive brands as well as RCA products. The RC5220P is a fully featured DVD player that includes distortion-free special effects and plays both DVD and CD discs. Like the RC5910P, the RC5220P features Dolby Digital and DTS audio capability. Additional features include a full complement of operational controls on the front panel of the player, Enhanced Fluorescent Numeric Display, On-Screen Displays in English, French or Spanish, and Front Headphone Jack with volume control.
