Press Release
Tributaries® today introduced its
new Locking Spade Lug, engineered to provide a more secure, reliable
connection between Tributaries speaker cables and loudspeaker and
amplifier binding posts.
Audio enthusiasts often choose spade lugs for a high-quality connection with
substantial contact area. The trade-off is that a conventional spade can work
loose as speakers, equipment and their surroundings vibrate, and anyone
who has stripped a binding post trying to keep a slippery spade tight knows
the frustration. The Tributaries Locking Spade Lug is designed specifically to
solve that problem.
The Locking Spade Lug incorporates gripping grooves across virtually the
entire contact surface. When a binding post is tightened, these grooves
improve mechanical engagement between the spade and the binding post,
so the connection resists vibration-induced loosening. The design also
simplifies installation: the spade seats securely with normal hand tightening,
reducing the need for tools that could damage binding posts.
“A spade connection can be extremely effective, but only if it remains
securely tightened,” said Joe Perfito, Founder and President of Gordon J.
Gow Technologies, Inc., parent company of Tributaries and Clarus. “Our new
spade uses a specially designed contact surface that resists loosening caused
by vibration, much like a lock washer. It’s a straightforward improvement
that enhances long-term connection reliability while simplifying installation.”
Tributaries Series 6 Mark II Star-Quad Speaker Cables will feature the new
Locking Spade Lug in gold-plated brass, while Series 8 Mark II Star-Quad
Speaker Cables will combine the same locking geometry with premium gold-
plated tellurium copper construction.
Availability and pricing: Beginning in November 2026, the Locking Spade
Lug will be a standard feature on Tributaries Series 6 Mark II and Series 8
Mark II Star-Quad Speaker Cables at no additional cost.
