Runco Refines Standard For 7-Inch Projectors New Super-HDTV Set Includes Outboard Processor

The latest projection television system from Runco International, a world-leader in high-end video display technologies, substantially raises the industry standard for video image quality from projection systems employing 7-inch CRT tubes. Runcoís new DTV-863 Super HDTV incorporates that performs the companyís proprietary ""video-scaling"" picture enhancement, resulting in the best-defined, most fully cinematic images yet produced by a 7-inch projector. ""By enhancing an ultra-high-performance projection system with its own, dedicated outboard digital video processor we have measurably upped the ante for sate-of-the-art displays,"" says Runco marketing director Kevin Miller. ""The DTV-863 incorporates all of the flexible input/output options and useful features high-end buyers expect ó but most important, it delivers more in terms of visual impact, with video imaging thatís nothing short of stunning."" The new DTV-863 Super HDTV projector employs a trio of high-performance, liquid-cooled 7-inch CRTs coupled with Runcoís exceptionally high-resolution proprietary optics. These incorporate a color-corrected, multi-layered-coating hybrid lens system that preserves and projects the full detail of these powerfully accurate, 800 x 600-pixel equivalent CRTs. A newly refined electromagnetic focus system ensures that the full resolution of each tube is always available to be projected, while Runcoís impressive new Auto-Assisted convergence scheme guarantees that installers and end-users alike will be able easily and effectively to optimize these opticsí extremely crisp picture. This guides the DTV-863ís integral Digital Wave convergence computer, and utilizes the systemís 32 on-board memory locations to store ideal setup for individual inputs or modes. The DTV-863ís wideband, 50 kHz horizontal-scan frequency and broad vertical-scan range (37-210 Hz) transparently accommodate a wide variety of potential signals ó most significantly, that of its included, outboard digital video processor. This employs Runcoís proprietary video-""scaling"" technology to yield line-multiplication equivalence of 2.5-times, via high-speed, pixel-based process that is far superior to traditional video processing in optimizing cohesive, cinematic image detail and rich, accurately maintained color. Dedicated I/O jacks on the DTV-863ís projector and digital video processor components interconnect the two, while the systemís input provisions encompass composite, S-Video, and BNC-connector component-video formats. RGB input with full VGA and XGA tracking capabilities is supplied via a complete, five-BNC set. With eight instantly available aspect-ratio options, the DTV-863 system stands ready to display any current or future video format, including NTSC-standard 1.33:1, widescreen 1.85:1, DVD anamorphic, and HDTV 16:9. Screen configuration is easily set for ceiling or floor mounting, and the Runco system is adjustable to front- or rear-projection via a simple scan-reversal control. Thirty-two user memories store preferences for any combination of input, convergence, and processor adjustments, permitting one-touch optimization for the broadest possible range of home-theatre environment display needs. While its stunning performance and highly flexible design set new standards, the DTV-863 is nevertheless a surprisingly ""livable"" design that measures just over 1 x 2 x 2-1/2 feet (approximately); a rackmount option for the external processor component is available. The DTV-863 is supplied with a wireless remote control, and can be ordered preconfigured to accommodate any pair of the multiple NTSC, PAL, and SECAM worldwide variants, and to accept 525-line/60 Hz or 625-line/50 Hz signals at its component inputs. Runco manufactures the DTV-863 Super HDTV projection system entirely in the U.S., employing professional-grade components throughout. Available now. Manufacturerís suggested retail price is $16,995.
