Pioneerís 3rd Generation DVD/LD Player Proves To Be The Perfect Transition Product For Movie Enthusiasts

Pioneer Electronics, the acknowledged leader in optical disc technology, introduces a third generation DVD/LD player (DVL-919), which proves to be the perfect transition product for movie enthusiasts everywhere. ""From the start, our compatible DVD Player has been one of our most popular DVD players,"" comments Matt Dever, manager, home electronics marketing. ""Both early DVD adopters and LaserDisc enthusiasts appreciate the multi-format hardware solution and can continue to enjoy their LaserDiscs, while building up their DVD library at their own pace. The company recently announced an aggressive business plan (Vision 2005) which aims to maintain its optical disc leadership in the DVD category. Product step up features such as component video outputs, a 10 Bit Video DAC, SRS TruSurround (Virtual Dolby Surround), a 96kHz 24-bit Digital to Analog converter, and DTS Compatible Digital Outputs support this goal with impressive attention to detail. The DVL-919ís new video circuitry, boasts improved video performance for DVD, due to a 10-bit video processing LSI (Large Scale Integrated Circuit). The DVD formatís 8-Bit video information is requantized into 10 bits for more accurate processing ñ resulting in fewer digital artifacts. This Pioneer ñ developed video LSI combines, on a single chip, the MPEG2 decoder, 10-bit video available in any consumer video product to date. To compensate for physical flaws in the software, such as disc flatness and hole centering, Pioneer has developed a ""ViterBi"" decoding circuit. This proprietary circuit enables reading accuracy to be improved by as mush as 100 times. As Further enhancement to the home theatre experience, the DVL-919 utilizes Dolby Laboratoriesí approved technology developed by SRSô called TruSurroundô (Virtual Dolby Surround). With TruSurroundô technology, realistic 3D sound imaging is created from only tow loudspeakers, ennobling specific sounds to appear to come from any pint surrounding a listener. The DVL-919 offers superior audio performance, with the addition of both coaxial and optical Dolby Digital/DTS audio ouputs, providing complete compatibility with all AC-3/DTS multi-channel decoding software and equipment. For the highest quality playback, the DVDl-919 provides ultra-high audio quality from a 24-bit digital-to-analog conversion system capable of decoding DVD stereo audio tracks using high sampling rates up to 96 kHz. The DVL-919 also employs Pioneerís built-in Hi-Bit processor to deliver improved signal resolution and extremely low noise from standard 16-bit audio CDs. The DVL-919 is available now for a suggested retail price of $1275.00.
